Top Five Greatest Blues Songs and Performances that Most Younger People Don't Know

  • Texas Flood: Live at El Mocambo (Stevie Ray Vaughan) This one is kinda long, bordering on ten minutes, but it is all completeley worth it. While Stevie's song writing ability may be inferior to some other players of his time, he still has some of the greatest feel on guitar of all time.
  • Lucille (B.B. King) B.B. King is the grandfather of guitar and has probably contributed to the genre more than anyone else. This song is simple a masterpiece.
  • Smokestack Lightning (Howlin' Wolf) Whoa. Now this is gettin a little bit old now. This was written in 1956 and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who does not listen to blues often, but this is a classic riff.
  • Red House: Live at New York (or for that matter anywhere) [Jimi Hendrix] Anybody who live during the late sixties knows who Jimi Hendrix is. Most people now have at least heard of his legendary skills and song writing ability. I myself am a fanatic and this is as good as it gets when it comes to Hendrix playing the blues.
  • Since I've Been Loving You (Led Zeppelin) Just a little shout out to you metal fans. Remember your roots. Almost all metal bands were influenced by the Zeppelin, and this is one of their greatest blues songs, done in their own style.

It's a shame that society has forgotten their roots and now all that remains in the music industry is either hip-hop, pop, or straight up screaming as loud as you can. If anybody reading this has some time, I would greatly appreciate you checking out some of these songs.
