Never listened to Scooter until now because this list reminded me that someone here (probably you) mentioned they were bad. So I type them into youtube, and lo-and-behold... Scooter's Jumping all over the World. Has to be worse than Axel F. If this one song fully characterizes Scooter.... The real question is how this crap becomes popular.
Xpander was just a joke. It's probably in the top ten (or close to) songs of any trancer worth their money. Though the Scooter track is quite painful, I assure you.
I'm never sure because people always come on and make crazy requests - IE someone above was requesting Cafe Del Mar for this list and saying classic trance sucks.
Can someone explain to me why that song is "the best of all time"? I don't get it. It's redundant and the melody is crap. It feels like it's missing something.
From 1999 onwards is when Trance actually started to get good. Does anyone have a list of top Trance songs post-1999?
From 1999 onward trance ceased to be trance. If you prefer post-1999 trance, then perhaps trance isn't your genre. At that point it split off in two directions: 1)Pop with a trance beat, and 2)ever more derivative copycat tracks with ever lengthening breakdowns. There were some good tracks, but they were either simply a harkening back to the sound of the 1997-1998 days of trance, or actually trancey progressive house or neo-trance, and not trance proper. I assume the second category are the great tracks you're talking about. If that's the case, I report neo-trance extensively in my minimal lists, and my top 400 trance list reports the year. Sljiva also has a nice progressive list on which the years are labelled.
If not, I suggest checking the billboard charts for the type of trance you're looking for.
I can't explain Cafe Del Mar to you - it seems just to be a track in a style of trance you simply aren't fond of (that being progressive trance/anthem trance).
What are some favorites of yours post-1999? That might help me recommend something to you, or point you to a good list.
I hate DJ Jean - the launch, It's played so much
in The Netherlands, and everytime it sounds more stupid. So that's why this song needs at least one vote I think.
a suggestion for this list:
Tiesto ft. BT - break my fall (I think the title of this track refers to his producing right now, it sounds like the singer is begging at God, to give Tiesto his creativity back. But I always will remember him of Suburban train and songs of quality like that)
The launch isn't trance. It's "UK hard house."
Annoying though, and I hate it.
I haven't heard Break My Fall. However, I'm not going to add it anyway, because I'm sure that's it's simply typical post-2003 Tiesto: mediocre and unmemorable, but not actively infuriating. Except for maybe "He's a Pirate." That's definitely going on.
Personally, I agree. But officially it's a style called "scouse trance." It's an awful hybrid of epic trance and eurodance, taking the worst aspects of both genres.
Really?! That makes no sense at all, just because someone comes up with a random genre called "scouse" (scouse??!!) which combines, wow, the worst of eurodance and epic trance, thats something, that makes it trance?
Scatman John - Scatman is not trance but house/dance and it is actually good song for two reasons
First of all is cool to listen too: good rhythm, good melody, good sounds
But it is also the effort of John Scatman (a severe stuttering musician) to show kids that they can overcome their problems if they work hard
His stuttering was so bad that he was considered invalidated and he found out that through singing he was able to overcome his stutter and could sing with an amazing fluency. The kids that listened his songs loved him, especially stutter-suffering kids, and he has has been praised by the National Stuttering Association. Unfortunately he died of lung cancer in his 50
Good points, none of which I knew upon adding it to the list (I actually only added it on recommendation). In that light, I'll take that one off the list (very deservingly).
I've read up on Scatman on wikipedia, and he seems like a really excellent person: Scatman on wikipedia
In fact, you're right, all things considered, it's actually a pretty good song. Really enjoyable, if silly eurodance. But for a great cause, and it seems it's really helped stutterers around the world.
Crazy frog BLOWS!! well at least you dont have to listen to it all the time in school (lucky buggers) a good 75% of my school LOVES it and plays it rapidedly during class time singing it!! gahh!
(to Emiley2006) Yeah, I had that problem back in high school with Akon's little disaster "Lonely." That track would be on this list if it was trance. (*pain*)
Notice to everyone:
I won't really be here for a while. Until about early May (2006), I'm pretty much entirely tied down to the rest of my life: I'm going to have almost no time at all to respond or update here. I may make an occasional post, but don't expect anything regular (and don't take offense if I don't answer you for a very very long time).
Sorry to anyone who has posted and I can't respond to: I'm juggling university (a SCIENCE degree, in others words the nightmare of university existence - this is a complete time filler as it is), a (very serious - not in nature, in depth of relationship) girlfriend, two entirely seperate groups of friends, several plays, several clubs, and possibly soon a job. There really isn't time left to handle answering comments...
Goodbye for now everyone! (I'll be back again, eventually). It's been fun.
man, for the worst trance shit you should really check aqualoop label. they got it all: special d, groove coverage, bass-t, rocco(!), pulsedriver, axel coon and many others.
cheers!!!
Aurora - Ordinary World ---- A great song. Cool mix of Duran Duran song ever.Nice to listen to...
DJ Jean - The Launch ---- not good, but not the worst...
Scatman John - Scatman ---- not trance... and a CLASSIC!
The worst must be : Milk Inc - Sun always shine on tv (100% copy of Vasco and millboys version!)
Hehe:) You havent heard Scatman !? One of the most well know electronic dance artist some years ago:P He songs are not very good, but they are classics:)
Yes, Milk inc songs is bad, and of course Crazy frog that is already listed sucks:D
Crazy Frog - Popcorn is even worse.
Hate to see these songs being destroyed like this, and even topping hit lists all over the world!!!! :(
The first time I saw the video of Axel F - Crazy Frog, after I saw that awful video, firts I took my granpa's shotgun, and I shot my ears. Right after, I took a big bottle of battery acid, and I furiously splashed my eyes with it. Then, I had to go to North Korea to get a brainwash, in a effort to forget that stupid idiot big-mouthed frog. But, despite all my efforts to erase that stupid song out of my memory , I wasn't able to do so.
I went to the doctor, and he recommended some medicines like Nalin & Kane - Beachball, Caucasuss - Our Dream, Chicane - Saltwater, Art of Trance - Madagascar, etc. So far, the treatment has been good, but, my only question is:
WTF IS THE WRONG WITH THE WORLD OF "TRANCE"?? 12 YEARS OF EVOLUTION JUST TO HEARD A BUNCH OF GARBAGE LIKE THAT SONG?
Seriously, that song was the #1 hit in UK, how is that possible? what is UK full of?? FFS
I'm not quite sure what the producers actually did in creating that song, except string together the four most hated SFX of all time (BRING DING DING DING DONG BOMBADOMDOOOOOM; "What's going on?", "Breakdown!!!" and that terrible TV theme from a COP show, no less) with a weak 4/4 beat.
Not only that, it was so bold as to TAKE ITSELF ****ING SERIOUSLY - the atmosphere is just so absurdly inappropriate (at least there's a bit of tongue in cheek with (almost) every other song on the list). Since that "track" came out, the sale of frogs legs has probably gone up a hundredfold. I've even developed a taste for them.
Good god, I know what you mean...
Even my 10-year-old sister finds it annoying, I can't imagine that grown adults would enjoy this (but apparently they do: it somehow managed to go to number one).
What I'm further confused by is the incredible sales of the album...I mean, it's obviously a novelty one-hit wonder, how could anyone possibly buy a whole album of this?
****, it pisses me off just thinking about it, I'm going out for frog legs.
Crazy Frog.. Has to be. The f*cking thing should be castrated.
Recommendations:
All DJ Rankin songs (if you've never heard him, KEEP IT THAT WAY!! The loser downloads other peoples songs, adds his shitty little samples and releases it under his name (he was apparently sued over this btw))
DJ Jean - The Launch (I'm sorry but this annoys the sh*t outta me)
DJ Liquid - Tetris (rave mix) -this song is so bad it's just funny.
Underdog Project - Summer Jam
Special D - Come With Me
Jamie - Me And My Lover
Scatman John - Scatman??
BTW you should get rid of DJ Sammy, it's obviously crap, but there's far worse out there :)
Naah, a lot of people have particularly painful memories attached to DJ Sammy, it might get a few votes.
As for Crazy Frog, agreed, it's pure suffering epitomized in a song.
I'll have to (brace myself and) check out some of those tracks, see if they're truly horrific enough to add here. Actually, I'll take your word on it for now, you seem to have pretty good taste in trance music (although a bit different from mine).
I don't know why I didn't think of "The Launch" before!!!
Summer Jam isn't THAT bad, I'd say. It's OK, I wouldn't scream if I heard it at a party, and I might dance, but I wouldn't download it. Mediocre, little else (despite its obvious annihilation of Fiesta).
should add Cascada - Everytime we touch
I'm not a fan, but it's not THAT bad.

Add Sasha's Xpander while you are at it :D
Haha, Xpander, really? I love that track, no way. I think among those who like progressive trance, it's pretty much an undeniable classic.
Indeed, I don't much like Scooter.
I would vote for Cafe Del Mar.
Can someone explain to me why that song is "the best of all time"? I don't get it. It's redundant and the melody is crap. It feels like it's missing something.

There was an awful Dance mix of the "TITANIC MOVIE" theme. I don't remember the name, but I do remember that it sucked.
Is Crazy Frog even trance?! I always thought it was electronic/dance. There is no way anyone can call it trance.
Personally, I agree. But officially it's a style called "scouse trance." It's an awful hybrid of epic trance and eurodance, taking the worst aspects of both genres.

don't take this crazy frog shit so serious. next year when somebody asks you about crazy frog, you'll be: huh?!
and after all, that isn't even trance
Yeah, but it's bad.
I don't think anyone here really takes it seriously, but it IS annoying.
Notice to everyone:

Yes, I've heard of that label (*shudders*).
OMG... Someone didn't vote for Crazy Frog!! Shame on you..
lol, this poll sucks:P

Yes, I think everyone will vote for Crazy Frog.
It's because nobody knows any of the other songs.
-That and because crazy frog annoys the crap outta everyone!!
The sound in Crazy Frog was actually orginally made to be annoying:
http://www.funnyjunk.com/pages/insanity_test.htm
I'm not quite sure what the producers actually did in creating that song, except string together the four most hated SFX of all time (BRING DING DING DING DONG BOMBADOMDOOOOOM; "What's going on?", "Breakdown!!!" and that terrible TV theme from a COP show, no less) with a weak 4/4 beat.

Haha, the voting is pretty unanimous right now..
May I suggest
Duran Duran - Ordinary World (Aurora mix) (Above and Beyond mix)?
Awful. Awful. Awful.
That's already there, I just called it Aurora - Ordinary World, for simplicity's sake.
My bad...didn't see it :)
Crazy Frog.. Has to be. The f*cking thing should be castrated.
