Drum workshop: I've never used these, but i hear they work pretty well
Evans: These heads have more bounce than anything i've ever tryed.
Groove Percussion: Great latin percussion, their stick bag design is really good (I have one).
Ludwig: Made famous by Ringo Starr, this compony makes classic greats.
Mapex: I believe they specify in beginner kits.
Pacific: A subdivision of Drum Workshop, not only do they make steller kits but also lightweight, sturdy cymbal stand (My stand of choice).
Paiste: One of the major three cymbal componies, these cymbols were huge in the 80's (Most notably, Alex Van Halen)
Peace: Popular in the 60's
Pearl: These are the best intermidiate and expert drums IN THE WORLD.
Premier: Famed in the 30's during the swing era.
Remo: Most popular drum heads by far.
Sabian: One of the three major cymbal componies, they are the most common amongst famous drummers (Most notably, Neal Peart).
Tama: Extremly underated, this compony makes quality drums at every level.
Verve: I own these, and I believe these are the greatest beginner sets you wil EVER find.
Yamaha: Not only does Yamaha make great outboard motors, but they make some pretty decent drums too. One of the top componies for sure.
Zildjian: The oldest of the three major componies, they were most promonent in the 70's (Most Notably, John Bonham).
