Put Television on Favorite Artists List? (see comments)

I've generally been putting artists on the top tier of my favorite artists list once I think I own a significant portion of their best work. For example, I loved the Rolling Stones' Forty Licks compilation, but prevented myself from putting them on the top until I had picked up Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, and Exile on Main Street.

Now there is the case of bands like Television. In case you don't know, Television only released two studio albums during its short career, along with a couple mediocre live albums. The two studio albums are called Marquee Moon and Adventure. Marquee Moon is a masterpiece, incredibly critically acclaimed, which I own and love. Adventure is a more obscure work for which critical opinion is rather divided. Acclaimedmusic.net lists it as the 1264th best album of all time. If I do pick up Adventure, I doubt it would be for a very long time.

So the question is, what to do? Should I put Television on the top part of my list only owning one of their albums? Is that enough to decide that I have a significant portion of their best work? Or should I hold off, and wait till I get Adventure?

Adventure is certainly not nearly so great an album as Marquee Moon. I bought it shortly after it's release and was disappointed. I shall dig it out over the next week or so and give you a review with it fresh in my mind.

Many great bands have much the same problem. New York Dolls, Mission Of Burma, The Only Ones, The Sex Pistols, etc. So I would have to vote for:

I scared a couple of young hitch-hikers (who said they loved punk) with Marquee Moon. They asked to get out after half of Elevation and 11 KM. That made the album even better. Unfortunately that isn't a listed choice so I'm voting down here.

Tallyho

;?)

Another fan of The Only Ones (OO) - brilliant. My favourite is 'Lovers of Today'.
