Like the title says: If'n'when the next Batman movie pops up, and assuming it features the Joker -- who should be cast?
Vote early, vote often!
EDIT: I've added the names that I think at least have a shot at it.

I voted Crispin Glover because I think he could NAIL maniacal laughter. Dude is creepy.
I have a few ideas for the joker, the list is in no particular order of interest
Christopher Walkins
Jim Carrey
Robin Williams
William Dafoe
The Rock (just kidding :P)
I'd still like to see Tim Robbins as the Joker.
Vincent Cassel - Based on looks and acting ability. And if he had the linguistic skills to remove all traces of a French accent that would be even better.
Bill Murray - If they let him play funny for real laughs and let him play deadly serious for real scares.
Ewan McGregor - Good acting chops. He's never really played a "bad" guy but I think he could nail it.
Benicio Del Toro - Again good acting chops. And with the right motivation I think he could play menacing very well.
Ben Stiller - Same as Bill Murray for me. If they allowed him to play for real laughs and also play dark ala Permanent Midnight.
Christopher Walken - Although I think he was already in one of the last round of Batman films. Damn, Batman Returns, I was right.
Matt Frewer - Max Headroom, anyone?
Jason Lee - Syndrome, anyone?
Samuel L. Jackson - If they allowed him to go for a balls out Academy Award-level performance.
Paul Giamatti - He's not really done super scary but I think he could make it work.
Viggo Mortensen - If he could pull off The Prophecy he could do this.
Joaquin Phoenix - I'd watch it.
I imagine Bill Murray and Ben Stiller would be ruled out immediately because they already tried funny/menacing with Jim Carrey and The Riddler and it didn't work out too well.
I wouldn't be suprised if you hate all of my recommendations but feel free to add any you feel come close to what you are looking for.
I voted for Vincent Cassel. He's got great acting chops, could play menacing and could be very physical with the role.
Can this even be remotely true already? I feel like someone had to pick this idea up off of our discussion.
Wow -- if so, nice crystal ball ya got there!
I wouldn't be sad if Cassel got it.
Steve Buscemi.
Mark Hamill. Totally.
I agree. His voice on the animated series is unmatched. I voted for Steve Buscemi because I think he could do a laughing homicidal scary lunatic well. Plus, the Joker is NOT a buff villain. He's pretty skinny like Buscemi.
