Nope, all based on padigree, history, and buzz. That is why I pose the question: which of these films will prove mediocre, and dissapoint the critics. We had Pay it Forward last year. Was supposed to be an Oscar certainty, had Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt, and Haley Joel osment. But when it came out, it got panned across the board, and ended up being completely ignored by any awards. This poll is just meant to ask which of these upcoming, heavily buzzed about films, will turn out to be a dissapointment.
You know Nat, I'm willing to bet that Scorsese's new film Gangs Of New York will reap some statues this year. Just a hunch.
Unfortunately, Gangs has been moved to 2002, most likely Oscar-hungry Mirimax trying not to cancel itself out this year.
I didn't know that, and you're probably right.
yeah, damn that Miramax. By the way, seen any good 2001 films?
I'm glad you asked that. Believe it or not, the best movie I've seen this year is The Others. I think it is a wonderful movie.
I agree heartily, its my #5. The Others was a very surprising delight.
You guys should watch Alejandro Amenebar's other 2 films.

Do you happen to know if the people who are making these suppositions have actually seen the films in questions?
