By "outstanding" I mean the most rockin', creative, inspiring, unique sound, and overall awesomeness.
Suggestions are welcome, and will be added to the list once someone seconds the recommendation.

Pavement
Thanks for the recommendation. I listened to some clips and Pavement sounds to me a lot like Modest Mouse. I kind of consider it more alternative rock, whereas I prefer progressive rock/metal.
Well you want our opinions on this poll, not yours, right? I might agree with dcstar on Pavement, and I too think you should add them.
Absolutely. As long as someone seconds a suggestion, I agree that's it's worthy to up here. Thanks for speaking up.
what about muse! I wouldnt call g&r creative
Well, Muse wouldn't really exist without Radiohead. :-) GNR were special because they evolved, unlike most other bands that are in their position. I mean, they were around for like 6 years and had more of an impact than most bands have over 20 years.
Yeah, I'm sort of being liberal with the term "creative" here. Honestly, I'm more interested in which band people like most overall. I think the media has repeatedly declared that Radiohead are the kings of creative modern rock because of OK, Computer and Kid A. I guess creative means diversity and unique sound. The real question I intended is: Which band is the most inspiring and has the most all-around best sound?
I put down all the great bands I could think of that held significant mainstream popularity. If there are any other bands you think can go toe-to-toe with the current list, I'd be interested to hear what you think.
