Craven, Cronenberg, Carpenter, Romero suggested by myself.
Bava, Argento, Hooper, Deodato, Cohen suggested by cramoukji.
Definitely not Wes Craven and probably not Dave C whose use of horror always was a means to another goal and not a goal per se... Romero could snatch the title among your nominees because Carpenter never really used horror for itself as well... I think you could include other names in your short list... Tobe Hooper immediately comes to mind, Larry Cohen could deserve a mention as well as the Italian crop (Mario Bava, Ruggero Deodato and of course Dario Argento)... but I'm sure other people will have other opinions... and that's what Listology is about, n'est-ce pas ?
Yeah, suggestions! Actually, I was thinking about Hooper, but I only know about two horror films he made (Poltergeist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre).
Moreover, I'm not familiar with the names of Bava or Deodato.
So, thank you very much, also for sharing your views on these directors.
Poletrgeist and Texas Horror Massacre are enough in my view to warrant a nomination... Everytime, and I mean everytime, quality is better than quantity!!!
