All these guitarists are absolutely legendary and really knew their instrument like none before or after, but this vote is a cakewalk no matter who you include on it. Isn't Hendrix simply in another league altogether?

The gap has never shortened. Hendrix is one of the few rock legends who remains untouchable at what he did. It's hard to imagine a second coming because, let's just admit it, so far as playing the guitar--or better yet, being the guitar--noone else comes even close.

The truth is in the sound. It's in the mixture of style, it's in the unmatchable, impossible technique. It's in the virtuosity, the shock, the effortlessness, the "do-whatever-the-hell-I want-to-with-it-swagger". If "Are You Experienced?" isn't convincing enough (and it should be), listen to any third of "Electric Ladyland" and tell me that's not God himself playing that instrument.

And I don't even consider myself among his biggest fans.
