I once went to a double bill (combined performance, actually) of Momix & The Bobs. One of the pieces featured a super-hero, Captain Tenacity. I'm almost certain it was a woman; if it wasn't a woman then the center of gravity for the dancer was all kinds of super-power wrong.
Captain Tenacity's secret identity was masked by a unique costume as the Captain strode, leapt, bounded and flew about the stage. I'm telling you, it looked like the Captain was literally flying after running at a slight angle upstage, springing into the air only to... soar above the stage!?
It was awesome. Captain T remained "hanging" in midair to perform flying moves choreographed to the music. It took us some time to figure out that there must've been a canted black surface at the rear of the stage that was slightly canted for the Captain to make aerial manoeuvres upon.
Since then I have learned that the surface was also made of velcro. Think of David Letterman's velcro leap with a dancer's grace and a million times more... (no way to avoid it) tenacity. Very rarely do I laugh aloud (I do laugh a fair amount, just not out loud.) The Captain had me laughing uncontrollably. The thought of it still makes me giggle.
