Best Song on Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde?

Though all the songs are great and a handful are masterpieces, Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands is the clear choice here. It's the most masterful composition of Dylan's, and most anyone's, career.

For once, I agree with Afterhours Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands and I don't mind the length of this song.

Why would you mind the length? It's only eleven minutes.

Spoken like a true Scaruffist.

What? It's actually more true when listening to electronic music than 'Scaruffist' stuff. Eleven minutes is not long, but it's not short. I associate 'long' to be 15/16+ minutes.

Fine, then, spoken like a true Scaruffist and/or fan of electronic music. All I know is, Sad-Eyed Lady is longer than 99.3% of the songs on my iTunes profile.

I didn't meant to be hostile, I'm sorry if I came off that way. I just feel that ten/eleven minutes isn't that long for a song to develop and expand. :)

I don't think you came across as hostile, and similarly, I hope I didn't come across that way either. Here is all I'm trying to say:

1) Scaruffi does like his music longer than most. He says that he feels gypped if songs are only three minutes or albums are only thirty-five minutes.
2) I actually think length is pretty relative. Some songs I feel are perfectly developed at three or four minutes, and if they went longer, it would be overkill. Some songs can be too long at four minutes. Some 10+-minute songs are perfectly developed, some could be developed even further and still be compelling, and some wear out their welcome after five minutes.
3) Given all that, if you're looking at length as an objective measure, relative to all rock music songs in the world, Sad-Eyed Lady is fairly long. I think it is perfectly reasonable for someone to refer to an eleven-minute song as long without the statement being questioned.

visions of johanna or stuck inside a mobile. good for getting you through the bad times!

Damn straight. I love Dylan.
