The best of the horror cycles

There must be more than two sequels to qualify.
I just wrote my film term paper on the first three - fascinating stuff. I never realized how much formal analysis these films have undergone. Particularly Halloween, Friday the 13th and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Dude, can I just say, that there was no mention of "Sleepaway Camp" which had three movies to its credit? Dude, they're my favorite bad horror movie cycle. Check them out; they're funny, and way way better than the Slumber Party ones.
Does this mean there has to be at least 4 movies total in the series? Either way are you open to additions?
Yes, I just didn't want a whole rash of movies with only one sequel, or even trilogies. These movies essentially turned into franchises. And please, suggest away! These were just a few off the top of my head.
Probably the creepiest horror cycle out there is Ringu. 3 sequels and a US re-make.
And how about the Exorcist, with the release of numero 4 later on this year that'll take the sequel count to 3.
I've only seen The Ring, but I'm definitely curious about Ringu and its sequels. Have you seen them? Are they better? Are they all worth seeing, or just the first one? Welcome to Listology!
well, the Child's Play series had 4 theatrically released films (and possibly an upcoming 5th I've heard).
Children of the Corn had 6 if you count 3 straight to video releases.
The Exorcist series currently has 3 but supposedly there's going to be a 4th released in 2002 which was co-written by William Peter Blatty and Caleb Carr.
The Jaws series had 4 films.
Leprechaun has 5.
Night of the Living Dead had 3 but there was a 4th film was a remake of the first. I don't know if that remake would count as a fourth. If you can't the Return of the Living Dead series this might make it as well.
Phantasm currently has 4 with a 5th one upcoming.
The Puppet Master series had 7 films.
Subspecies has 4 with a 5th one upcoming.
The Wishmaster seties has 4.
I'm not saying all of these should be added by a longshot. Just whichever would seem to fulfill your criteria.
