I'll comment on my top 5
im not going to go in depth
il just tell you why i love them and why everyone should hear them
and why i believe they are the greatest records ever made

5-Frank Zappas Uncle Meat
Uncle Meat is the peak of Zappas compositional genius. His lack of technical ability or knowledge is the key to so many of his greatest works. No lines between stylistic boundaries. This album ranks amongst the greatest rock, jazz and avent garde works in the history of modern music. Key listening "King Kong"

4-John Frusciantes smile from the streets you hold
In my opinion this album is an update of the darkness and dispair displayed on Fausts first and greatest record, made more personal due to the lone voice and guitar. The sheer emotional depth this man plucks from within his soul, is unequalled by any record in rocks history. It begins with Enter an uh, the most challenging and unrivalled vocal performance on record, and ends with the title track, the most tender beautiful poetry. Classic phrase used to describe this record "looking into a man's soul without sunglasses." Possibly the most challenging record in rock music (simply because it rewards you with little for about a dozen listens) Key listening I may again know John.

3-Fugazis Repeater
Repeater is theatrical, aggressive, tense storytelling. The songs circulate round the vocals of guy piccioto and ian mackaye, backed by in my opinion the most important rhythm section in hardcore. Every song is an epic tale of frustration, inability to act, and impotence.
key listening Turnover/repeater

2-Pere ubu's the modern dance
Quite possibly rocks masterpiece. The importance of this record is quite impossible to understate.
Just go out and buy it.
It begins with the primal punk of non alignment pact which single handedly invents new wave, post punk and garage. Laughing begins with a free jazz jam that sounds like an updated hair pie, and the most out there moment on the record is the nico influenced sentimental journey, venturing through chamber, free jazz and punk. I have taken to calling this album free punk.
Key listening-Laughing

1-The velvet underground and nico
The greatest most influential band of all time, debuted with the greatest and most influential album of all time. The light pop of sunday morning, ventures through the eastern mystique of venus in furs and ends with rocks masterpiece European son(this song invented noise fusion)
every song is a masterpiece of invention and brilliant musicianship.

Thanks for posting this. Great choices here.

thanks :)
noticed no frusciante on your list
if your interested i suggest you listen
"smile" is extremely hard to get hold of but devastating. EXTREMELY aquired taste. I checked out Scaruffis review of it and he doesn't rubbish it, he just says it defines his descent into madness
which it does, but in my opinion it sounds kind of like twin infinitives stripped down to just neil haggerty
i reckon you'd like it considering your other choices
