One of the best pop singles artists around at the moment, Kylie Minogue, has breast cancer. Here's hoping for a full recovery. Laugh if you must, but I can't get her out of my head...
I don't even have the guilty pleasure of shadenfreude about this. This must be really hard for her, and I really hope she gets better. But I'm with grandpa chum - she could really stand to disappear off the radar. I find every minute aspect of her seems engineered to be mass-marketable, and I find it disconcerting. And her music makes me cringe. So, in sum: Kylie, I wish you a full and speedy recovery, and once you do, please go away.
I wonder if this reaction is stronger from folks who have spent much time in Europe, where she is a huge star. In America, she is pretty much a two-hit wonder and often ignored (hardly over-exposed) by the media.

Ah, that's a good point. I don't recall hearing much about her until I moved to England a little over a year ago. Now she's everywhere, and it's irritating. One more thing to look forward to about moving back to Canada.
that is an interesting thought... although I am in America and I thought the exposure she got here a while back was enough for me.

Oh no! That's terrible. I'm with you on this, L...Kylie is a great pop singer. I hope that she ends up with a clean bill of health.

i hope she makes it through but if there is a positive maybe she'll stop making music... I also hope never to see her hideous face again, as far as pop singers go, she's one i could do without listening or looking at.
Wow, I could hardly agree less. I really enjoy her music, especially her singles, which crush most of the competition in her genre, and as far as looks go, I find her much more attractive than 99% of the other artists in her field. I'll take distinictive and slightly sharp over mushy, bland, and generic any day.
But I am glad to hear you wish her well. :)

i'll agree that even I think i'm crazy for not loving her looks, i just don't... and i'm not a monster, of course i wish her well.
