I love Twin Infinitives very much, I'll try to come up with something poignant and poetic to explain my position. What I really want to know is: What kind of library has Royal Trux? Ever Library I've been to has the absolute worst rock selection ever. Classical and Jazz are not bad, but rock is pathetic. The best album I've ever come across in a library was Neil Young or Naz. I find this fascinating that you folks are actually finding good music at your library.
I use a system at my library called inter-library loan where I can borrow an album so long as a library somewhere in the world is willing to loan it to my library for me to pick it up and have it for awhile, usually a few weeks. There's some albums I either can't find or (in rare cases) they're unwilling to lend, but most of them I can.
Wow, now that's an incredible program. Do you have to pay anything to use it? More on the library: I just moved to Toronto and recently found out that they have a system to transfer materials between all their 99 branches. As it turns out they have an impressive catalog of DVDs that can be accessed on the website.
Yea, it's pretty great. In general, no fees. For ultra ultra super rare out of print in this galaxy type albums, they will require I pay a fee (like $20) to have it for a month, but this has only been requested 2x out of the hundred or so albums I've borrowed (most of which were hard to find).
One of the greatest albums in rock music. Sadly, Royal Trux and Accelerator didn't do nearly as much for me. I'm taking it for granted at the moment that I'll eventually find at least one other RT album I really like, but they could just be one of those bands.
Barbed Wire Maggots I'm still in two minds about. It confuses me that Scaruffi kind of writes off AMM but gives those guys such high ratings. That said, I've only listened to it a couple of times so far.
honestly, i was listening to the other day because i was having a bad day and it just clicks for me. it is the one of the only albums that i still cannot explain why i like or hate. and this is a major no-no for me because i am trying to only listen to albums from 1968/9 or 2009 releases, but i could not resist. everytime i listen to it it does the same thing for me - it does not ebb or flow, it just is, and as of now it is pHucking Phantastic. it is up there with A Love Supreme, Spiritual Unity, Beethoven's 5th, The Rite of Spring...amoung others.
i played it for my mom and...20 seconds later...i ended up playing Moondance instead...she was much happier - not that i love Moondance, she does. but, in those 20 seconds i felt much better.
I know what you mean, it's difficult to pin it down as to why it's so fucking awesome. It isn't the melodies (if any), or even the timbre as with a lot of experimental. I think it's one of those (and they are very rare) albums which does it through pure artistic expression. I am now getting this album, even though it shouldn't be good (technically).
If you were to submerge yourself in beautiful noise, I think Twin Infinitives would be the result. Utterly magnificent. Even since I made this poll, I've decided it's even better.

I personally don't, I have other sources...
My mistake, that was directed at AfterHours.

Ahh, fair enough. My bad.

If it was a bit more original than I'd probably like it...
Yeah, a bit too mainstream too...
I think I would shit a brick if I heard it come on modern rock radio.
Btw, heard Barbed Wire Maggots? That's some messed up music, but I think I quite like it...
Not yet. I was just thinking about it today though. Once I find a copy from the library (or buy it) I'll let you know.
hmmmm, which one did i vote for?

Awesome number one choice dude.
