I've wanted to ask someone who's read the Philip Pullman books what they thought about them. I find it hard to believe they are classified as "young adult" books. While the hero is a young girl, the issues, plot, and occurances are very adult. I liked the first book but the anti-religious view started to wear on me a bit. For all the nonsense about Harry Potter books turning kids to the evil black arts of sorcery, I found these books to be much worse in that they question the validity of God and the basis of faith. Pretty heady stuff for children to swallow.
