There still seem to be some alarming and, indeed, slightly shameful gaps in my film-viewing. I shall continue (slowly) trying to rectify them.
01/01/2009: At this point I've seen 492 features and 45 shorts. There are still 9 directors on this list by whom I've apparently seen nothing at all (Ozu, Satyajit Ray, Vigo, Sirk, von Sternberg, Flaherty, Dovzhenko, Demy, Akerman); I should probably do something about that...
01/01/2010: Now seen 524 features and 59 shorts, and there are now only 3 directors on this list by whom I've seen nothing (Vigo, Dovzhenko, Demy).
01/01/2011: Now seen 538 features and 66 shorts; still seen nothing by Vigo, Dovzhenko or Demy.
01/01/2012: Now seen 547 features and 74 shorts; still seen nothing by Vigo or Flaherty.

Yes, you do have some interesting gaps. I hope you see some Eisenstein, Satyajit Ray, Ozu, Herzog, Leo Mccarey.

I've been skipping Cassavetes for decades; he's one of the less accidental gaps. :)
Most of my serious film viewing was done in an age before satellite telly and online DVD rental, when some of the omissions were unavoidable (I don't think I got a sniff of a Mizoguchi until I was in my thirties, for example) - though that hardly explains my ignorance of, say, Eisenstein, Ozu and Renoir - and I'd slackened off a lot in the last few years just as a vast array of films was becoming readily available (children and stuff taking up my time, as they do).
I'm hoping to fill all the gaps on here in the next year or two (not completely fill, obviously; but hopefully there'll be no actual blanks staring back at me).
