Author Comments:
The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual get-together of the "best" of European "music", that has introduced the rest of the world to the likes of ABBA, Bucks Fizz and Celine Dion. Not to be sniffed at. Unlike some of my favourite solvents.
Ireland have won the competition a record seven times. The United Kingdom have won the competition five times, and come second place a staggering fifteen times.
Johnny Logan of Ireland remains the only act to win Eurovision twice, in 1980 and 1987.
Dana International remains the only transsexual to win Eurovision.
The competition will be held in Azerbaijan next year, after winning it this year.

Poor Belgium with its pitiful one win
Bleh, I don't really care for Marija Serifovic's song Molitva. I'd say I probably liked Czech Republic's entry best (Kabát - Malá Dáma). The song by the Russian girl group is somewhat catchy too... 'Oh, don't call me funny bunny'.
Here's some fun trivia - in 1980, the Belgium group Telex took the song "Eurovision" (which is about the contest itself) to the contest in hopes to finish last. They ended up 19th.
