Author Autographs

  1. W.O. Mitchell- Who Has Seen The Wind-probably signed by the author in about 1947/1948. The book was a gift from my Mom to my Grandfather who died before I was born.
  2. [interesting side note...my second writing teacher was a student of Mitchell's]
  3. Hiromi Goto-Chorus of Mushrooms-signed by the author for me at her home at the wind up party of the first novel writing course offered by a local writer's guild.
  4. Eugene Stickland- "my" writing journal- He is a playwright and I didn't have my copy of his play with me but he signed my journal at that time.
  5. Earl Lovelace-Salt- He signed my copy of his novel after a reading he gave on campus.(EDIT: I loaned the book to someone who moved away with it. Sigh)
  6. I just finished reading The Polished Hoe by Austin Clarke...and sadly I could of had a copy of it signed about a year and half ago at a reading on campus...but I had not yet bought the book. EDIT (A friend got him to sign a copy for me... he was writer in residence at the campus after I moved... she brought it to me this summer July 2008)
  7. Winston Churchill was also an author and I have a hand written note from him on 10 Downing Street letter head that he sent to my maternal grandmother.
  8. Eden Robinson- Monkey Beach-one of my favorite books in recent years. I read the book via a library copy and thus when she was writer in residence and gave a lecture I did not have a copy for her to sign. Earlier this year I found a paperback copy in a local used bookstore and grabbed it. Put the book in my personal library. Then some fellow students were covering the book in a class and so that class I attended the class. As I was putting the book away in my backpack I realized the copy was signed. I like to think she signed it at the same reading of hers I attended years before. (EDIT: Took a workshop with her July 16,2009 and she signed so that it was for me.)
  9. Nancy Huston- Slow Emergencies- I volunteered at Nancy Huston: Transcultural Dialouges conference. She gave a reading and signed by book.
  10. Eden Robinson- Blood Sports- A friend and I went to a workshop about writing character. We each got our copies signed.
