I am tabulating the award winners in film for 2001. The category is in bold and the current leader is highlighted in yellow. In some categories there's no clear cut winner(s) so I'm waiting for more to roll in.
Awards Tallied Herein: Academy Awards, American Film Institute Awards, Boston Society of Film Critics, Broadcast Film Critics Association, Chicago Film Critics Association, Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association, European Film Awards, Florida Film Critics Circle, Golden Globe Awards, Kansas City Film Critics Circle, Las Vegas Film Critics Society, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, National Board of Review, National Society of Film Critics, New York Film Critics Circle, The Online Film Critics Society, Phoenix Film Critics Society, <San Diego Film Critics Society, Southeastern Film Critics Association, Toronto Film Critics' Association, Vancouver Film Critics Circle

And so it begins...
One thing to add to this, Shrek won best animated feature from the National Board of Review. Just a heads up.
And since that's an actual Oscar category this year I need to move that up don't I? :-)
Indeed, I am pulling for Waking Life to get a nomination and perhaps even pull a win, but I think Shrek is unbeatable in that category.
hmm. Waking Life put me to sleep (literally).
Yeah, I've heard that reaction as well. I loved it, but people who's opinions I respect (including yourself) did not like it very much. Personally, I thought it was brilliant.
Memento will be submitted in the Original Screenplay category in the Oscars, and I think that is what other awards regard it as as well.
Also, No Man's Land won Best Foreign film at the L.A. awards, and Shrek won Best Animated feature.
Re: No Man's Land and Shrek
I've already added them into the tabulation. What more do you want?
Re: Memento
If the producers want to submit Memento as an Original screenplay that's their business. But it is an adapted screenplay.
My apologies, I posted before you had tabulated them, terribly sorry.
What I meant about Memento is not that the producers have decided to run it as Original. its that the Academy has said that under its rules, it is Original. and since this is a list showing frontrunners for the Academy awards, i thought that would be important.
It's alright. Sorry I'm a little snappy. I had a long night. I had to reboot my computer in the middle of tabulating the LA awards to you might have caught it before I was done.
AFA Memento goes if you could send me a link to any info about it being considered an original screenplay I would appreciate it.
Thanks!
I'm trying to think, hmmm, I'm not sure where I saw that about Memento, I think it was an official announcment from the Academy that was posted by OscarWatch, I'll look.
