ZFES1. [Past] The Films of Roger Ebert's Overlooked Film Festival

Battleship Potemkin overlooked? Sure, it doesn't exactly sell out the mutliplexes on Friday night, but it is one of the only films from the 20s which is still viewed by some people. A great film, one that will make a appearance rather high on my top 100 list.

I am very glad to see An Autumn Tale here, though it isn't the best Eric Rohmer has to offer.

Tron is problematic. As an artistically successful film, I fear it is lacking. As an amazingly influential film, it has indeed been overlooked. I admit, however, that I haven't seen this one in quite a few years.

Thanks for posting this list!

Shalom, y'all!

Re: Potemkin

Roger Ebert even admits as much on the festivals web site. The reason he includes this and a silent film each year is because a score is performed by a live musical act each year. He feels that format can give the films new appreciation.

Tron has a sequel in the works called Tron Killer App.

I haven't seen any of these. Not an one. Zippo. Zilch.

C'mon, Jim! Not even Tron? Well, I know now that I've added all of the films from each year you've seen at least once, Panic (2000).

Ah yes, now that you've fleshed it out I have seen some of these (seven, to be precise). I'm kinda surprised that he classifies 2001 and Wonder Boys as "overlooked" though.

Oh yeah, believe it or not, Tron is not one of the seven I've seen.
