X-Files, Season One : in order of Awesome

- Conduit - Might be my favorite for characterization of Mulder in a more subtle manner than later episodes. Also, great mood.
- Beyond the Sea - I love Scully in this ep. She's fierce and brave and full of emotion, and she follows her instincts despite not quite believing. Also, it's the most recent one I've watched:)
- Deep Throat - Um... Ditto. Also, first Scully!Ditch by Mulder, and Seth Green.
- Ice - Great Mulder/Scully interaction, great supporting characters, creepy setup. Intense.
- Fallen Angel - I [heart] Max.
- Erlenmeyer Flask - Scully to the rescue, again!
- Eve - Creepy. Great supporting actress.
- Miracle Man - I always had a soft spot for the preacher's kid. I liked the ambiguity of the character.
- Squeeze - love Tooms. Great Mulder/Scully tension.
- EBE - for this line alone, and I think it's the introduction of the Lone Gunmen: "That's why we like you, Mulder. You're ideas are weirder than ours."
- Young at Heart - Killer out for vengeance on Mulder? I'm there.
- Pilot - aww. I feel all protective towards the Pilot. It was so new and awkward, like a colt on wobbly legs.
- Darkness Falls - ick, this one creeps me out.
- Genderbender - ditto, with an added moodiness I love.
- Fire - this used to be on the top of my list, but upon re-viewing it's awkward.
- Tooms - again with the not remembering. Though Tooms is a fave character.
- Jersey Devil - aww. Jersey Devil. Poor Feral Girl.
- Shapes - this one might rise once I see it again.
- Lazarus - upon rewatching, this one moves down the list. Not that great.
- Shadows - perfectly servicable.
- Ghost in the Machine - silly concept. Decent execution.
- Born Again and Roland - I have very little memory of these.
- Space - this episode sucks eggs.

Based solely on my preference and my distant memories, as I haven't rewatched the entire season in some time. Order may change as I see the later episodes again.
we are currently rewatching Season Three.
Interesting. Beyond the Sea creeps me out something fierce, to the point that I totally run away half way through, but Darkness Falls, I think, has fabulous Scully, totally not hitting any of the men around her with a log during their pissing contests.
Dude. Shapes? Second best episode ever, man. They pack a lot of social commentary and mythology into one episode, and the cinematography is breathtaking.
I really, really don't remember shapes. It should be coming up soon on the reruns though!
Beyond the Sea is creeepy. Great acting from Gillian Anderson and the dude who plays Boggs.
Good list. I'm really surprised that Beyond the Sea is taking a backseat to Conduit of all things, but your list generally has the better episodes in the top half.
Favorites from Season 1: Beyond the Sea, Squeeze/Tooms, The Erlenmeyer Flask, Ice, Pilot, Eve.
Worst from Season 1: Space, GenderBender, Shapes, Jersey Devil.
