Did you just write to these guys and ask them for their autographs, or did you meet them at book signings or what?
All were from book signings, either ones that I went to myself, or that others went to to get the signed book as a gift.
I was lucky enough to get Douglas Adams' at a book signing as well, in Spokane. I just saw Raymond Feist in Seattle and got him to sign a book. I have a couple of others that I've received from an author I knew personally, but the one I like the best is by Robert Laxalt, who just passed away. I found some of his books in a used bookstore in Albuquerque and one of them was signed.
Just curious...would autographed books fit into this mold or did you have to get the signature in person?
Autographed books fit. In fact, two of these were obtained for me by other people. But the rest I got myself.
