Ah, gee, I actually thought Henley did a decent job of Everybody Knows, but hey, I'm strange...
Great idea for a list!

I agree with every damn one of these entries. These covers suck! Good job Johnny
Your pal,

I tend to think Henley is too eager to let his "righteous indignation" show through. I think I prefer Concrete Blonde's version.
Hey, Johnny!
He is no doubt extremely eager, but I feel like it works with Cohen's song. His indignation may seep through, but he lets it simmer rather than boil into a primal scream session or an outright rant.
I like it, but I believe I'm in the minority on this one!

I just have to tell you about the most sublimely wretched cover I've ever heard:
Olivia Newton-John covering "Ring of Fire".
Oh yeah.
So bad that I love it, but probably no one else would.
I totally understand the "so bad I must listen" scenario. The listed Milla Jovovich track (on the Million Dollar Hotel soundtrack) is one of the most hideous songs I've ever heard, yet strangely, I enjoy listening to it. For the moment at least though, I believe I will steer a wide berth around the Newton-John song;)
