I'm leaving out numbers that refer to the number of band members; otherwise, I'm afraid the Dave Clark 5 might make it...

I take umbrage to your suggestion that Eve 6 is an awful group...They have very well-written, clever, thought-provoking lyrics, and they're also quite talented in their instruments...I cannot imagine that you, one of the more knowledgeable posters on this site, don't see the beauty in 'Promise' 's simplicity or 'Here's to The Night' 's heartfelt words...

Ah, I like the flattery. On Eve 6, I'm going off their radio play, especially the song that has that "choke on the rind" line. I don't like it at all, so I've never delved more deeply into their music. What album would you recommend?

Johnny Waco

Well, I would suggest taking a listen of their 'Horrorscope' album, which showcases their versatility quite well, in a broad range of rock styles, though their self-titled debut also has some high points such as 'Leech', which gives a good 70s-nostalgia to me when i listen to it..I'm just simply flattered that you're asking me for a recommendation!

This comment surprises me quite a bit, as I found Horrorscope to be anything but versatile. In fact, it sounds exactly like much of what is already Modern Rock fodder, and hardly different from the band's earlier album. Is there really much difference between, say, Third Eye Blind and Eve 6? Bands of this nature are why they stopped calling most of these stations Alternative Rock and went instead for the Modern Rock label. This music isn't alternative. In fact, it is the rock mainstream.

My vote, Johnny, is certainly to leave Eve 6 up there.

Shalom, y'all!

OK, two very divergent opinions. I'm leaving them on the list for now, but the next time I hit the used CD store, I'll try to remember to listen to one or both albums. Since I haven't really heard much, I think I do need to check them out. And no reason to be flattered Bycal; I have so many lists because I jump on listology when I should be doing more important things! I even had to get an extension on my taxes due to this bedevilling site...

Johnny Waco

Johnny, I need to mildly disagree with your selection of 10cc. While an erratic career marred by much excess and deplorable music, They have enough good songs to stay off a worst list. I would suggest a listen to their Very Best of 10cc.

The rest of them I either have never heard or wished I had never heard.

Never having delved too deeply into 10cc, and claiming to have an open mind, I'll give them a chance. Thanks for the suggestion...
