Worst Guitar Solos Ever

- 1. Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It. Words cannot describe how bad this solo is, you've got to hear it for yourself. How to guide for solo. Take a hard rock song. Insert guitar with little or no effects or volume. Play the notes of the chorus with with said guitar with as little emotion or feeling as possible. Move whammy bar slightly at end. Yes, now you're a lead guitarist! This is something you'd learn in your first guitar lesson.
- 2. Neil Young - Cinnimon Girl - I know people will hate me for this one, but face it, it sucks. It's one note over and over. I like Neil Young. I like his solos. The solo for Down By The River on the same album (Everyone Knows This is Nowhere) is one of my favorites ever. Why one note? Was it a joke? Did he put it in as a place holder and decide to keep it while high? Sigh.
- 3. Eric Clapton - Lay Down Sally. Great guitar player. Crappy solo. The production doesn't help as you can barely hear it. No fire. It just lies there like a dead thing a kills any momentum the song had.

I'm working on a greatest solos list, and this seemed to be a fun diversion from that monstrosity.

What a great idea for a list. Keep it up. Perhaps I will nominate some for you when I hear them :-)
I got a few:
The Police-Can't Stand Losing You Andy Summers sounds like he's tuning his guitar.
The Pixies-Letter To Memphis-I like the song. It seems that the solo is misplaced and should belong in another more uptempo song.
Any of those 80's solos where the guitarist tries to sound like a laser, e.g. Rebel Yell, Billy Idol
Those are pretty good. I forgot about the laser "screaming" guitar solos of the eighties where the guy grabs the whammy bar and throttles the instrument.
Any slayer solo has a place on this list. But Angel Of Death is my personal favorite, the guitar goes so fast that I think the guitarist forgot the melody line and blasts into an atonal, squeeling mass of noise.
Tallyho
:?)
I doubt anyone will agree with me on this one, but I absolutely F***ing hate the Hotel California, Freebird, and any solo by Rush's guitarist. My opinions though, your list.
With Rush it's not the guitarist, it's the band. They stink, and I'm Canadian.
Tallyho
:?)
Audioslave's 'Original Fire', perhaps? I like Tom Morello's playing okay, but the solo in that song is almost painful to listen to. It's just pure crappy effects to me.
