yeah...I haven't watched a whole lot of stuff. chalk it up to reluctance to pay theatre prices, to a lack of friends who want to see offbeat (and/or crappy) films, or just to plain ignorance, but there are a lot of movies I would like to see at some point in my life.

it may take years, but i'd like to clear out a large chunk of this list.

any recommendations?

The Seven Samurai is probably my favorite movie from this list, but there are lots of great ones on here. I only recently saw Trainspotting myself and loved it. And it's nice to see The Hudsucker Proxy on here - it doesn't often make anybody's "to see" list, and many folks don't seem to care for it much in relation to other Coen movies, but I remember enjoying it quite a bit. Of course, I saw it when it came out and that was quite awhile ago now. I should rewatch it to see if I still feel the same way.

You should post a "movies I like" list or something like that. I'm also partial to the Favorites by Genre lists if you're looking for a template. That would make it easier to give recommendations, since we'll have a better idea of what you've already seen and what you like.

good call. i'll work on that today.

...and it's done three weeks later.

Hi Nick, I enjoyed your Favorites by Genre list, but it turns out I'm not smart enough to tell you what you should watch from this list based on a few of your favorites. So I did this instead.

Sweetness. You're a good man.

On a rainy day, when you're in a romantic mood, watch Hannah and her Sisters
Read the book, then watch A Clockwork Orange
Watch Dancer in the Dark alone, when you're in the mood to really concentrate
Dude - Watch the Breakfast Club TODAY with as many people and refreshments as possible, and not the edited for TV version
Lagaan - wonderful wonderful. Watch only with people who don't make fun of cheesiness, and be prepared for a long sit
El Mariachi - watch as a double-feature with Desperado. Very different but complementary
You could also have drug night with Requiem and Trainspotting. Watch Requiem second though. My friend Nathan and I couldn't talk after watching it.
Donnie Darko - don't try to figure it out when you first watch it.

God, there are so many great ones (and ones I haven't seen) on this list, I wish I could watch them all with you. Hope my advice is helpful and not annoying.

See Godfather I and II RIGHT NOW.
