Author Comments:

i grouped 'em by approximate categories.

It's OK. I gots all the time in the world.

Wow! So many great albums and artists, what to comment on?

"The Clash" - A great album, one of my favorites. I would highly recommend the U.K. version if you can get a hold of it. My favorite track is probably "Police and Thieves", but "White Riot" and "Remote Control" are great as well.

"Transformer" - while I do not actually own the album (hence why it was not in consideration for my "best" list), I have heard it before. A masterpiece in "glam" if you will. Lou Reed was (and still is) a songwriting genius, and this album reinforces that. Best song? Gotta go with "Perfect Day".

P-Funk - God bless you son, enjoy!

The Talking Heads - See "Stop Making Sense" and then pick up the remastered album. Pick up "Remain in Light" and "More Songs about Buildings and Food" while you're at it.

Roxy Music - "For You Pleasure" is their best work. Check it out, Brian Ferry was a highly underappreciated musical pioneer.

X, Pattie Smith, The Buzzcocks - I've got to check out more of these three too, but I just wanted to tell you that your interest is not solitary.

The Kinks - Check out "Arthur" and "the Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society", great stuff. Check out my Kinks lists if you want anymore reinforcement of that.

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust, Alladin Sane, Low, Hunk Dory, Station to Station, so much to do, so little time.

I've downloaded "Village Green Preservation Society", and that song makes me so happy! I love it, and I need to give the album another listen when I get back to Austin's fine, fine record stores.

thank you very much for your recommendations! you've helped me a lot. now, if I had me some money...

Great stuff here! My favorite category has to be, "mannered, adult pop". Hard to argue with that!

Shalom, y'all!

It makes me really happy to see X mentioned! Wild Gift would be my desert island selection!

that's good to hear. I have a scratchy vinyl copy of Wild Gift (record and sleeve, no cover) that I got at a Goodwill once; I don't listen to it much, cos the sound quality ain't too good. but I hear they were the respectable sound or punk in L.A.
