- Orrery - my new word for the day (8/26/04) - "An apparatus which illustrates, by the revolution of balls moved by wheelwork, the relative size, periodic motions, positions, orbits, etc., of bodies in the solar system." (dictionary.com) Basically a simulation of the orbits of the planets.
- Sleep/sheep - these are the words that, when I'm reading, I most often have a weird brain moment where my brain stops recognizing the word as a symbol of a thing and starts looking at the collection of lines. A rather freaky feeling.
- Ephemeral - just a great word for life in general
- Obtuse/Acute - from a post I made in response to k3vin on jim's "High concept" article. I loved k3vin's pun - "obtuse ... I was correct with the angle" (geometry refresher - an obtuse angle is one that is greater than 90 degress, acute is less than 90 degrees. Funny how the other meanings are essentially opposites, as well: obtuse - having a hard time understanding; acute - sharp, keenly perceptive or discerning).
- khaki - see my "celebrities who wore khakis" list; anything can look weird after typing it a bazillion times.

as a journalist and a former high-school counselor's daughter (thus was I forced to study SAT words incessantly), I like words.
