  • OK. I went through all the lists submitted and used all the lists where people had their movies numbered. A number one movie got 10 points. 2 got 9 points and so on til number 10 got one point. I added them up and by point totals came up with this list.
  • 10. 2001: A Space Odyssey 20 pts.
  • 9. Blade Runner 21 pts.
  • 8. The Deer Hunter 23 pts.
  • 7. Citizen Kane 25 pts.
  • 6. Apocalypse Now 26 pts.
  • 5. Pulp Fiction 27 pts.
  • 4. The Godfather, Part II 34 pts.
  • 3. Dr. Strangelove 38 pts.
  • 2. One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest 42 pts.

I may not be completely accurate, but its very close. Any comments?

Just based on my intuitive sense of these lists (and I haven't been watching as closely as I should) this list seems on-target. Mild surprises: I would have thought Citizen Kane would have been slightly higher, and The Godfather and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest slightly lower. But I have lousy intuition.

This is a really great idea for a list!

Thanks Jim and Sebreg. I feel that the list would have came out differently if some of the other listology members could have figured out the order of their favorites. I had to omit alot of points from lists that hadnt been numbered in order.

Thi is a great list, it really is. I hope we can extend iyt one day. Cool idea.

Thanks Triple A. I'm doing the same thing with different genres now. in process.

Wow, this is great. This could pass for one of those AFI lists or something, only less dim-witted. Listologists really know their shit. BTW, with all these herculean undertakings of yours lately, how do you have time for a job/social life/shower?

Well, I have no job, surely no social life, and I havent showered since february. (just kidding..)

Be cool if you could a list like this for favorite albums.

Favorite albums would be more difficult, because people have muvh more diverse opinions on albums.

True....

Cool List. I'm extremely glad to see "The Deer Hunter" there. I don't know if it's one of the best movies ever made, but it's one that will make a huge impact on the viewer. Once you watch it, you'll find yourself thinking about it for months to come. Definitely my favourite.

Though I have to be a bit critical and point out that Pulp Fiction shouldn’t be there. Maybe it can appear on a “Best Black Comedy List”. But because this list is based on votes, I guess I can’t complain. Although I do think that “Pulp Fiction” is overrated.

“Taxi Driver” should also be there.
