  • Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) [9.5/10] [Hip Hop] This album has truly hit me. A humourous, dark & funky look at urban life. Also, it makes me feel like a gangster, when I'm white and flip if a mug isn't on a coaster
  • Kaito - Special Life [8/10] [Neo Trance/House] I'm just a sucker for anyone who mixes the good bits of trance, the good bits of house, the good bits of minimal and mixes it together into one big electronic sandwhich which I can digest for my pleasure
  • Action Man (Aka Hervé) - Under Your Skin [N/A] [House/Elecro] So bascially, the dance world is bored of minimal and this is where it's going, "maximal" if you will. Hervé is one of my favourite new producers at the moment. A top tip for the future
  • Immolation - Close to a World Below [N/A] [Death Metal] I'll make a rating in the future. For now I'm just enjoying this
  • Morphine - Good [7.5/10] [Indie/Jazz Rock] An enjoyable album which I can imagine listening to quite a few times. Can't see why Scaruffi considers it a masterpeice though
  • Big Black - Atomizer [8/10] [Noise Rock]
  • Metallica - Master of Puppets [8/10] [Thrash Metal]
  • Lightwave - Mundus Subterraneus [9/10] [Ambient] The greatest ambient album of all time (if you exclude Irrlicht, but I don't really class that as ambient)
  • 23rd November 08
  • Bob Dylan - The Bootleg Series Vol. 4: Bob Dylan Live 1966, The "Royal Albert Hall" Concert [N/A]
  • A truly phenomenal performance, especially disc 2. The rendition of Like A Rolling Stone has to be one of the greatest live recorings of all time. "Play it fucking loud"
  • Big Black - Atomiser [8.5/10]
  • Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - From Her to Eternity [9.5/10]
  • Burzum - Hvis lyset tar oss [8.5/10]
  • A truly spiritual work. As close to a symphony as metal can get. Especially Dot com en gang var
  • Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral [8.5/10]
  • Miles Davis - Bitches Brew [9/10]
  • The Stooges - The Stooges [8/10]

  • John Coltrance - A Love Supreme [9.5/10]
  • Roscoe Mitchell - Sound [8.5/10]
  • Anthony Braxton - Saxophone Improvisations, Series F [9/10]
  • Never has a saxophone sounded so good. Anthony Braxton exhutes so much energy and emotion that the saxophone sounds like it's going to exploide with passion at some points.
  • Mobb Deep - The Infamous [8.5/10]
  • A dark and intimate portrait of life in the New York underground.
  • Frank Zappa - Uncle Meat [9/10]
  • The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses [8/10]

  • Eels - Electro-Shock Blues [9/10]
  • This album just keeps getting better every listen
  • Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea [9/10]
  • 17th October 08
  • Burial - Untrue [9/10]
  • "What I want is that feeling when you're in the rain, or a storm. It's a shiver at the edge of your mind, an atmosphere of hearing a sad, distant sound, but it seems closer - like it's just for you.” - Burial. This is the sound of a moment in life which I have always treasured but have never able to express. This is the sound of walking through a town at night with a light rain drifting down sparkling of the flood lights. It may not sound very romantic but it's a moment I find magical and this album expresses this moment. If you've nevr experienced this, next time your in a city at night and it's raining. Listen to this album and just go for a walk. It's almost spiritual.
  • The Pop Group - Y [8.5/10]

  • Patti Smith - Gloria [8/10]
  • Jimi Hendrix - Rainy Day, Dream Away/1983... (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)/Moon, Turn the Tides...Gently Gently Away [9/10]

  • Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit [8/10]
  • Robert Wyatt - Rock Bottom [9.5/10]
  • Jimi Hendrix - Wild Thing [9/10]
  • It's not really this track but Hendrix that I'm intrigued by but this is the best example. The way he uses noise and feedback to create such symphonic music. It's sort of pre-My Bloody Valentine. The best version of this is the live version at The Monterey Pop Festival where he infamously burtn his guitar at the end of the track. Pure gold.
  • Jurgen Paape - So Weit Wie Noch Nie [8.5/10]
  • This song captures a moment perfectly. When your on holiday, or just at home. Yo';ve woken up, bit drowsy and you walk to the curtains. You open the curtains and it's blue sky and you suddenly realise your going to have a brilliant day. That's what this song sounds like.
  • Inner City - Good Life [7.5/10]
  • Classic house. Not complex or emotionally powered, just good old fun.

  • Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues [7/10]
  • 18th July 08
  • Steve Angello - Gypsy [6/10]
  • I'm still arguing with myself over wether this track is absolute genuis or self-indulgent rubbish. There's a fine line between idiocy and genuis and this track crosses that line, but to which side?
  • Underworld - Ring Road (Laidback Luke Mix) [8/10]
  • A Fantastic mix by Laidback Luke turns this song into a monster
  • Moody Blues - Days Of Future Passed [8/10]
  • Ricardo Villalobos - I Try To Live (Can I Live) [7/10]
  • Sigur Ros - Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust [7/10]

  • Justice - DVNO [6.5/10]

Awesome list. Syd Barret is indeed amazing, a truly odd but great songwriter with a really unique voice and vocal talent.

Where does the Ring Road mix appear? I love the band but the remixes people do of them are usually really uninspired, so it's nice to hear good ones are finally being released!

Oh, and if you are a big UW fan, you should probably know about the Oblivion remix album - the remixes are okay, usually much too long, but there's the non-album original track "Parc" that pretty much blows away everything from the actual album! (not that Oblivion was a bad album - this track just rules!!) CHECK IT OUUTUTUT

You can here it on his myspace: http://www.myspace.com/laidbackluke

I'll check out that track thanks.

Good to see one of my favourite albums and one of my favourite classic house tracks recieve some kudos!

Agreed on Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, fantastic isn't it?

It's the best peice of music I've ever heard. Don't really need to elaborate, you know how good it is.

Have you heard Sister Ray? It's kindof trying to convey the same message/sound that Ladybird does (albeit being a million times better, but that's true of comparing Sister Ray to nearly anything), and hearing it may make you consider Ladybird a masterpiece rather than just a gimmick.
