Decided this should be my first list because I like cinema and 1999 was probably the best year for cinema ever.
Good list. Mine would be completely different though. The Straight Story and American Beauty are indeed fantastic.

My personal favourite would be 1980 (Raging Bull, The Shining, The Empire Strikes Back, The Fog, Airplane, The Elephant Man, Stardust Memories, Bronco Billy, Gloria), followed by 1976 (Taxi Driver, Marathon Man, Assault on Precinct 13, Murder by Death, Network, The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Omen, All the President's Men), 1974 (A Woman Under the Influence, The Godfather, Part II, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Italianamerican, Fear Eats Soul, Chinatown, The Sugarland Express, The Mirror) and 1957 (12 Angry Men, Throne of Blood, Paths of Glory, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Wild Strawberries, The Seventh Seal, Witness for the Prosecution, The Incredible Shrinking Man).
