Wow, what a list! Amazing.
Thanks! :)
i've now copied Green, Out Of Time, Monster, Murmur, Automatic, Reveal, Up, Document and Around the sun on my player and i am re-discovering REM ! and i love them even more. at the moment a personal fave is Perfect Circle, a lovely track, just nice and relaxing with great chorus.
i see E-bow the letter is quite low, thats one of my favourites, what do u think of the track ?
Yeah, Perfect Circle is beautiful. Excellent song. As for Ebow - well, it's definitely a fan favourite, and it even did really well in the charts over here (the only time they've ever gone top 3 here I believe), but for some reason it just seems to be not quite my thing. To be honest, the only reason it's even on this list is the lyrics - without them, it wouldn't be here; and I don't listen to it often either. But I'm in the minority here, it has to be said!
Do you like Endgame, by any chance?
Yeah enough about E-bow, i still love it :P i agree that the tune is a little uneventful, but the lyrics make it, one of my faves.
Endgame, yeah i do. i look it like this. Theres another instrumental track on Automatic, but what i like is how each reflects their albums. i see out of time as on the whole, being quite upbeat in terms of tunes and musical structure. sonfs such as "Radio song" "Losing My Relegion" "Shiny Happy People" "Near Wild Heaven" all have very upbeat feel to them in, whether it be tune or lyrics. as does the album. however, i find Automatic, though great, to be more of a dull, depressing album. and the intrumental on each album reflect this, as Endgame is very upbeat, and New Orleans is fairly dull. so i like endgame for being an instrumental that keeps the tone of the album.
Yes, I see what you mean there. Personally, I prefer Endgame, but New Orleans.. is pretty OK too.
Do you like Near Wild Heaven then, by any chance?
oh yeah, sorry, i meant that i prefer endgame too, its way better.
Near Wild Heaven, yup, An REM classic, gotta love it.
I'm personally just getting into REM
It seems like I've got a lot to look forward to
Absolutely, lots of great tracks and albums await you!
Huge REM fan here. They've been my favorite band for I don't know how long.
It's awesome to see "Daysleeper" so close to the top of the list. That song's always been my favorite of theirs. It's so honest; really captures that exhausted, up-all-night feeling (which I am all too familiar with).
"At My Most Beautiful" would make my top five.
Good to hear your thoughts, I completely agree.
Have you heard "Accelerate" yet?
I have, I loved it. Been rocking out to it every day since I got a copy.
"Supernatural Superserious" is probably my favorite track, "Mr. Richards" being a close second.
Yep, they're both awesome. I'm also hooked on "Man-Sized Wreath".
