- 5. it has a nice mix of instrumentals and actual songs from the movie
- 4. it's really fun to listen to and you can dance to it
- 3. the songs remind me of moments from the movie, but also have a definite life of their own and can stand apart from it, by themselves...does that make sense???
- 2. "the wind" by cat stevens
- 1. it saved my sanity whilst* driving to brooklyn from mass...i knew i would get lost in the manhattan/brooklyn area...AND I DID!! i called for directions and kept listening to RUSHMORE...and things worked out in the end...i'm not joking but it really kept my spirits up!

Hey Barbie, nice list although I'm a bit disappointed to see that "Oh Yoko" was not mentioned. However, I commend you on your use of whilst and Brooklyn in the same sentence.
Hey man, Katherine! I really strongly agree with this list. Everyone must own the Rushmore soundtrack. It is indispensable and useful for many occasions, happy and sad. Also it's one of those CD's you can listen to all the way through without needing to change to something else for variety. It makes its own variety. Viva la Rushmore! May I also suggest the "Pillow Book" soundtrack. It is good for similar reasons but in a more artsy rainy day kind of way.
