- I'm a guitarist myself and I dont just judge guitarists by their success, I judge by the way they perform and the amount of skill they have. Sorry but this is a rock guitarist list so I won't have Chuck Berry, Chet Atkins etc. on it.
- I decided to make a top 50 since a top 100 will take too long.
- 1.Jimi Hendrix - He's the best because... well because he is.
- 2.Jimmy Page - The only guitarist to use a violin bow on a Les Paul in order to make a heavy guitar solo. He is amazing in general. One of The Greats.
- 3.Ritchie Blackmore - My inspiration to play guitar. To me he's the best there is at creating guitar solos. If you knew his work as well as I do then you would understand why he's here but otherwise feel free to critisize.
- 4.Eric Clapton - I was always amazed by his riffs. Sure some are not as good as Crossroads or Layla, but still his riffs are relentless.
- 5. Jeff Beck - I have nothing to say to critisize him. He just deserves this spot in this list.
- 6.Yngwie Malmsteen - Whoo. His solos are impossible to play. He is like a machine at shredding.
- 7.Stevie Ray Vaughan - Not into him,but his guitar work is amazing,no denying that.
- 8.Randy Rhoads - If he was still alive he would have undoubtebly been in the top five. But sadly he passed away when he was really young. He didnt get enough time to show more of his talents.
- 9.Eddie Van Halen - Amazing guitarist. Always loved his work.
- 10.Joe Satriani - He is just a damn good guitarist.
- 11. Steve Vai - The best of the G3.
- 12.John Petrucci - What he did in Dream Theatre is mezmerizing. He is one of my fave guitarists.
- 13.David Gilmour - When he plays his solos - you can just feel thats its coming from deep within. Divid Gilmour is the most captivating guitarist of all time.
- 14.Tommy Iommi - The father of metal. The man who decided to scare people through his music. The man who created some of the greatest riffs ever. He certainly deserves to be in the top 15.
- 15.Carlos Santana - One of the best tone's to ever come out of a guitar was by him, gorgeous, but somewhat repetitive.Still love his work though.
- 16.Alan Holdsworth - Magic.
- 17.Robert Fripp - A tone deaf guitarist who is actually left handed but plays a right handed guitar. How does he cope?
- 18.Alex Lifeson - The best live performer ever. The riff work, the solos, the personality etc. He is simply too good to be true.
- 19.Brian May - Made his own guitars, had his own style when creating solos and is basically a great guitarist.
- 20.Mark Knofler - People underrate him. Some say I overrate him. But all in all this Sultan must complete the top 20.
- 21.Steve Howe - He might not have done much in the studio to impress me. But when I heard him play live - I was instantly into his melodic soloing and riffing.
- 22.Kirk Hammett - SSSHHHRRREEEDDD.
- 23.Duane Allman - SSSLLLIIIDDDEEE.
- 24.Dimebag Darrell - Pantera would not have acieved as much if Darrell wsn't with them.
- 25.Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. He will be remebered for his originality.
- 27.Slash - The Rolling Stone didn't even put him on their list! Disgraceful. I always though he should be in the top 30, like he is now.
- 28.Jack White - I think I have no need to comment on him.
- 29. Matthew Bellamy - He's here simply because of his live performances and the amount of potential and talent there is in him.
- 30. John McLaughlin - He is in the top thirty because I was told to put him there. I never really liked his work but oh well.
- 31.Frank Zappa - He's here because he's here.
- 32.Uli Jon Roth - He may not have achieved as much but he is good enough to be 32.
- 33 & 34.Adrian Smith and Dave Murray from Iron Maiden - They have to go together on the list because they are too similar.
- 35. Joe Perry - Great guitarist in general and created my favorite riff - Walk This Way.
- 36. Pete Towshend - The windmill strumming guitarist may not have been that great interms of skill. But in terms of song writing and acoustic guitar performances - yeah he deserves this spot.
- 37.Angus Young - Here mainly because of "Thunderstruck", "Highway to Hell" and "Hells Bells". The riff for Back in Black was written by his brother Malcolm. If Angus wrote then I would have placed a bit higher.
- 38.Buckethead - No comment.
- 39.Gary Moore - Played his guitar very cleanly and made very little mistakes in live performances.
- 40.John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival - Swamp guitar, and damn good at it too!
- 41.Steve Morse - Always does 5 star live performances.
- 42.Dave Mustaine - SSSHHHRRREEEDDD
- 43.Kurt Cobain - Meh. He's a respectable guitarist.
- 44. Michael Schenker - He is good and deserves this spot.
- 45. Neal Schon - The time he spent in Journey was enough to convince me that he is good.
- 46.Keith Richards - He is only here because "Can't you hear me knockin" which is an amazing riff. I never really like The Stones so I might have put Keith a bit lower than expected.
- 47.Jerry Garcia - Never really liked The Grateful Dead, but Jerry Garcia always stood out as a great guitarist.
- 48.Zakk Wylde - Has always amazed me with his ability to create great guitar solos.
- 49.Allen Collins - He is always underrated. The man created free bird for god's sakes he deserves to be in the top fifty.
- 50.Herman Li and Sam Totsman from Dragonforce share this spot for their super-shredding in "Through The Fire and Flames". These guys have a bright future ahead of them and expect them to go even higher up the list.

Herman Li and Sam Totsman shouldn't be there at all,
Uli Jon Roth should be much higher, he was much more skilled than half of those guitarists, if not all of them.
Rusty Cooley?
Luca Turilli?
Michael Angelo Batio?
Slash shouldn't be on that list, i could name 15 guitarists who could play circles around him.
Dimebag also shouldn't be on here, and Hendrix and Page shouldn't be as high as they are, don't get me wrong they are great guitarists respectively, but they are nowhere near the best.
fuck u the only thing that could be changed is if slash was moved to 6. to replace Yngwie Malmsteen!
yes
