* the one downside - catherine zeta-jones. but at least she comes off as pretty shallow/unappealing by the end.

I am proud! Soon it'll be second nature. For example, your comment, "so your next assignment is to see High Fidelity--which i'm sure you will after seeing my latest list", was a prime candidate. "latest list" begs to be a link back to this list. :)

Is this review fair?

yeah, i'd say that's a pretty good description. and i *totally* agree that in the wrong hands this flick could've been a bomb. yay for cusack & friends!

Top Five Lines in "High Fidelity"
- "That's the worst fucking sweater I have ever seen. It's a Cosby sweater, a COSBY SWEAT-AH!!!" - Barry (Jack Black) commenting on Rob's hideous sweater
- "You go boy, smoke that ass!" Barry expressing his surprise that Dick (Todd Louiso) is going out on a date with Anaugh Moss (Sara Gilbert)
- "Ooh, I'm sorry, is your daughter in a coma?" - Barry dismissing a square customer who walks into the record shop asking for 'I Just Called To Say I Love You'
- "Is that Peter fucking Frampton?" - Rob on his way into a club, listening to Marie (Lisa Bonet) cover 'Baby I Love Your Way'
- "I can't fire them. I hired them three days a week, but they starting coming every day. That was three years ago!" - Rob explaining how Dick and Barry started working at the record store

This is one of my favorite films ever!

thanks for adding your own top 5--i wish more people would! and i think i may have to get out the old video this weekend--your quotes made me anxious to watch it again.

You forgot, "Based On a Book Written By Nick Hornby", who is just about one of the coolest writers around.

unfortunately haven't read the book, but i'd like to... maybe this will turn into a top 6 list at that point? :)

That's funny...I haven't seen the movie! I think the book will be worth it for you, particularly because it's set in England, which in itself sets it apart from the film. Hornby's About a Boy is also a great book -and in my opinion they did a pretty good job on the movie, especially on the soundtrack, by Badly Drawn Boy.

Nick Hornby is our favorite author in the universe. The movies made from his books are the most kick ass films in the world. We love you you are the coolest. NICK HORNBY FOREVER
