- ps. Many people may think why yes and genesis are not on the list but this is simply my opinion
Some of my favorite prog rock bands (though some may classify them as Heavy Metal, though I'd disagree with that):
Dream Theater
Dredg
Portal
Radiohead
I definitely love King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and Mars Volta and have several of their albums. I'll have to try out Van der gaaf generator and Jethro Tull.
i also really like radiohead, i have never heard dredg or portal ( i have to try them out) dream theather really has heavy elements, i think it is progressive heavy, it is progressive. van der graaf generator is amazing, try pawn hearts from them. from radiohead i especially like from kid a, it is really progressive rock
