"Rock & Roll" is one of my favorite Led Zep songs. You've got a good list though.

Thanks for the comments. The reason I don't feel "Rock & Roll" is one of their best songs is that it's repetitive and not very creative. It's still a fun tune to rock out to, but I don't feel it captures the magic Led Zeppelin is capable of.

nice list

Where is Black Dog on this list? Come on! It's the greatest guitar solo EVER!!!

Black Dog is too generic, too run-of-the-mill repetitive. It just doesn't have that special quality that distinguishes it and makes it stand out in a crowd.

I disagree "Rock & Roll" may not be a great technical acheivement but it takes like 2 seconds to be 100% sure what you are listening and is by no means generic and is always great.
I would have liked to have seen "The Ocean" higher and I am also surprised by the exclusion of "Gallows Pole" and the inclusion of so much of Physical Grafitti but that is personal taste.

Without a doubt, over the hills and far away needs to be higher, so does in the light, and ramble on needs to drop about 10 spots.

going to california is easily a top 5 song.

Oh c'mon!, it's just too hard to pick the best ones they're all so good. damn led zep rule! dinosaurs, ledgends, massive power, and they wrote the greatest song of all time, it's really hard to judge.

Ugh i wouldn't have had some of the songs on there and in my opinion its out of order, and i truly believe the song "your time is gunna come" should be on this list, because it is truly a brilliant song

Couple of things:
Good list, Heartbreaker needs to drop a few, just a fairly catchy rift and a crazy solo, but thats Jimmy page for you nothing special in that song
Same thing with Whole Lotta Love
Kashmir needs a little boost
Rain Song needs to be pushed way way up. Its easily a top 10 led zep song
Ramble on needs to drop a few places
Dazed and confused is a top 5 led zep song, and since i've been loving you is a top 10 song, which isn't even ON the list
Babe im guna leave you is not on this list that is easily a top 10 song and possibly robert plants greatest preformance (well tied with achiles last stand, kashmir stairway, rain song......

More than a quarter of a century, and Led Zeppelin and Houses Of The Holy remain in the hearts of the older generation and young ears. They were one of the first heavy metal groups and, in my opinion, one of the most successful groups in rock music.

I think this list is very good, but then again, it's hard to go wrong with a list of Zep songs. However, this list should be titled by the author "My Top 25 Favorite Led Zeppelin Songs", because it is not a true representation of people's favorites based on any sort of vote. Not only that, but "Achilles Last Stand" is ranked #1 on this list, and I wouldn't even put it in my top 50 songs, nor, do I doubt, would most Led Zeppelin fans. It is a decent song, but it came from a comparatively crappy album when you look at the rest of the catalog, and besides that, it really doesn't showcase Robert Plants vocal ability, nor that of the band in general. It's basically an OK song they decided to drag out for 10 minutes. Can you tell I think this song is overrated by the author? :-)

The Rain Song should definitely be higher on this list. It is my personal favorite of theirs and easily one of their 5 bests. I'm a little surprised with Achilles Last Stand being #1 but to each his or her own. It is a great song, but not what I would have picked. In my opinion, Ramble On shouldn't even be on this list. It is a good song, but they have so much better stuff. It's my least favorite song off of Led Zeppelin 2 but is ranked higher than any of the others.

I think you should have included Fool In the Rain on the list too. It might not be one of their masterpieces of rock, but it has great vocals, very clever lyrics and and really cool guitar solo. I'm not saying it's their best but I think it should be in the top 25 at least. lol

WHAT? Ramble On is their best song and one the best rock songs ever. The transition from verse to pre-chorus-to chorus is phenomenal. And you like Living Loving Maid better? I always thought that it was a boring song.

The fact that SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU is not on this list or mentioned by anyone makes me incredibly sad. Top 5 Guitar Masterpiece of all time let alone great Zep song. Honorable mentions for:

Tea for One
Gallows Pole
Your Time is Gonna Come
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
Bron Y-Aur Stomp
Travelling Riverside Blues
Hats Off to (Roy) Harper
Going To California

Some Serious Omissions:

Nobody's Fault But Mine
When the Levee Breaks
Black Dog
Communication Breakdown
D'Yer Mak'er
Rock and Roll

What about Tangerine? I think it's one of their best songs...

Dude, your list is incomplete. It needs
When the Levee Breaks
Bonzo's Montreux
D'Yer Mak'er
Rock and Roll

Woooo if you dont mind me saying:
Dancing Days should def be on here
Bron Yur-Aur-Stomp, also
Going to Californi, especially
Babe Im Gonna Leave you
And most definitly...All of My Love

good list. all my love definitely needs to be on here though, amazing synthesiser and spanish style guitar solos

Great list! Didn't realize how hard it would be to get top 25 without leaving out some great ones...
Glad to see Ten Years Gone, Thank You and The Rover (my personal favorite)
I'd knock Heartbreaker down a bunch, and for myself add:

Black Dog (it's always sounded quite unique to me, rather than generic)
Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
Your Time is Gonna Come
Fool in the Rain (for personal reasons)
Tangerine, and definitely
When the Levee Breaks

Thanks for the list!

Oh yeah, and @hello_dave, Bonzo's Montreaux ROCKS

uhhh where is "The Lemon song" and "In the light" "When the Levee Breaks" and "Since i've been loving you"? Terrible list
