No Dr. Strangelove?
It is a good movie but did not make my list of 25.
I'm a little surprised to see Monty Python's The Meaning of Life in front of Monty Python's Life of Brian. MP's The Meaning of Life is a tough, prickly movie that's difficult to love. The first time I saw it I got a headache from laughing and trying to resolve all of the themes/contradictions in the movie.
The restaurant scene, the first time I saw it, disgusted me. My dear old mum, god bless her, was one of two people in the theatre to howl with laughter all the way through. It took me three times before I thought it was flat-out hilarious...
"Arthur Jarrett is a convicted criminal who has been allowed to choose the manner of his own execution..."
It was hard putting one of them in front of the other because I love them both. I laugh everytime I see them. I saw Meaning of Life first, so I think that is why it was first on the list. It was the intro to Monty Python for me.
