The 90s was fabulous music. It was hard to write this list because there was such great music in the 90's. I kept on changing the order around. These are the songs I crank up when I hear them on the radio or my IPOD. Songs where the album came out in 1989, but came to be more popular in the 90's were not considered 90's. This included Great albums like NIN Pretty Hate Machine and Mother Love Bone's first album. Some bands that I love like REM, Jane's Addiction, and Beastie Boys had their best songs in the 80's.

For Punk music, most of my favorites wer in the 80's well from bands like Black Flag, the Misfits, and Social D. That said, I still made a kick ass list of music from the 90's. I like some of the punk music of the 90's....but 80's is better for that type of music.

Also, I know I am going to get crap for having Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock on there. These songs kicked ass. Too bad they now made laughing stocks of themselves....Limp went Limp with Fred's whole Brittney fiasco. Kid Rock is now Kid Country..... he sucks now!

Though I can't argue with your top 4 and I'm mightily glad at least one Gin Blossoms song makes your list, you can't seriously imply that Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers did not offer great songs in the 90's... Mary-Jane's Last Dance is the most obvious choice... I understand that your list is more about "modern rock" than "classic rock" but damn, TP&HB do transcend all barriers...

This is a list that is in progress still. There are so many great bands that produced music in the 90s. I do like Tom Petty. I always think of him in the 70- 80s. My favorite songs by him are Breakdown, American Girl, Refugee, and Running Down a Dream. I will probably look into some of the bands that I think of in the 80s to see what they put out in the 90s. Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you and yes, I share your view that the 90's was a truly truly great decade for rock music...

Have you had a chance to listen to your recommended album yet?

Yeah! I really like it. Thanks!

Ecstatic that your favorite (90s) Metallica song is 'Sad But True'. Thats my fave as well!

you spelled Aenima wrong, amazing decade for rock n roll, i agree.
