Top 16 Love Songs of All Time

Tags:
  1. "A Case of You" -- Joni Mitchell, but done wonderfully by Diana Krall. As Tori Amos said, "a seduction, heightening the undertone that was always there, when a woman sings to a man 'I could drink a case of you!'"
  2. "Breathing" -- Lifehouse.
  3. "Besame Mucho" -- done by a hundred artists... beautiful music, beautiful lyrics, haunting: Kiss me many times, I am scared that tomorrow I will be far, far away from you.
  4. "Crush" -- Dave Matthews Band. Tied with "Angel" and "Sleep to Dream Her" from the new CD.
  5. "Head Over Feet" -- Alanis Morissette
  6. "She" -- Elvis Costello.
  7. "Can't Take My Eyes off of You" -- Done by many, but my favorite version is Lauryn Hill.
  8. "Wonderful Tonight" -- Eric Clapton, but I prefer the UVA Hullabahoo's a capella version.
  9. "You Don't Know Me" -- Emmylou Harris, I think, then Ray Charles, but I prefer Jann Arden's version from My Best Friend's Wedding.
  10. "Afternoon's Debauchery" -- David Gray. More of a lust song than a love song, but incredible nonetheless.
  11. "You Move Me" -- Garth Brooks. "She's Every Woman" is a close second.
  12. "Me and You" -- Kenny Chesney.
  13. "Don't Go Away" -- Toad the Wet Sprocket. A deviation from the traditional love song, but in a great way.
  14. "I'll Be" -- Edwin McCain (but the acoustic version from Messenger, not the earlier version from Misguided Roses).
  15. "My One and Only Love" -- Sting (doesn't sound like Sting, but it's a great song).
  16. "Iris" -- GooGoo Dolls. Just the line "and I'd give up forever to touch you."

God Only Knows by The Beach Boys or Because by Dave Clark Five. If you have not heard those, check em' out!

Okay if he doesn't sound like Sting on that song who does he sound like? Since he doesn't sound like himself I might actually like it.

I honestly don't know who he sounds like, except for that neither the style nor the voice sounds like Sting -- I was surprised to find out the artist (I got it from Morpheus).

And Toad the Wet Sprocket!!! Do you own the whole album?

I own Fear, Coil, Pale, Dulcinea, Bread and Circus, In Light Syrup, and P.S.
Dulcinea is my favorite, followed closely by Pale, then Coil, then Fear.

Great!!! I own them all, too. One of the few semi-prolific bands for which I own all of their albums. Also, one of the few bands for which all of their albums are worth owning. Did you ever get to see them live? Do you have the Glen Philips solo album?

There are very few bands or artists of whom I can say, "I own all of their albums" (although the number is rising with the advantage of Morpheus). TTWS is one; Live, Jim Croce, Diana Krall, Smashing Pumpkins, Eazy-E, Dave Matthews, Edwin McCain--I think that's it!
I never got to see them live, and I do have all the Glen Phillips stuff but stolen from Morpheus.
