  • This one was difficult for me. I love Steve Reich's: Music For 18 Musicians, but I cannot listen to any song over 45 minutes without my finger itching to tap the next button (and not because the song is bad, I just have a very short attention span). This song is only 'bout 20 minutes, so I was able to roll with the shortness...

Author Comments:

First off, I would like to thank Darktremor for expanding my music library by about 15gb in two weeks. I have almost memorized several of his lists...whether that's good or bad...I'm not too sure yet. (Don't worry, my lists will vary from his, I do not believe in ever having the exact same taste in music books etc as anyone else). Anyway, here are my top 10 songs for the month. Also, this list is mostly for me, because I often forget about songs when I get new ones...

These are my favorites for this week, and I did NOT put albums up, because...well...I would be here all night. I can tell you this much, every single song here, I have loved the entire album (these are just the ones that really stuck with me).One amazing album that needs to be looked up though is Faust: Faust. My favorite album this month, hands down. Let me know of any songs/albums/bands/genres I would enjoy by looking at this list! Contributions are very welcome!

P.S. I'm horrible defining genres. I just know what I like, so instead of making a fool of myself, I just wrote what the mainstream genre was.

Haha, don't memorize my lists, they're not even definitive for me! I change them all the time, and sometimes I go back and I'm like "why the hell did I put that there?" Plus my musical taste changes about 10 times a week.

Good choices, I love all of those songs. Although, it could be that all of them come from my lists :P :P :P

LaughOutLoud! I know exactly where you are coming from. What is so amazing though, and the reason that I DO love your lists, is because I often enjoy listening to these songs/albums over and over again. With most music coming out these days I get bored (IE: Katy Perry) after about 10 listens...

My musical taste changes about once a day, but it is probably not as drastic as yours. Mine is more like "I feel like crap, I think I will listen to some Tortoise to make me feel better." AKA my genres only vary by a little.

And in case you are wondering, they DID in fact come from your lists, although not directly. I don't think I will ever listen to something that you haven't...unless you haven't listen to Jens Buchert?

lol, I'm glad I have a fan :D

Indeed, I don't like most mainstream music either, the problem is it's all structurally the same - that's why it never sits for long - as soon as you start to take it apart in your mind, you find that it's the same as every other pop track. (intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-chorus-outro, with some slight variation - IE a bridge here or there, one verse-chorus taken out, etc.)

I checked out Jens Buchert by your recommendation here (as we seem to have solidly dovetailing musical interests) and I'm finding it wonderful. I have a jazzy downtempo DJing gig coming up, and Reflections is unquestionably getting played. Thanks!

I'm glad I could help! Good luck with the gig!
=D

Did you like Poppy Nogood And The Phantom Band? It's the B side on A Rainbow In Curved Air, but I actually prefer it. It's very strange and surreal, with an atmosphere that is extremely chaotic yet calm. I definitely recommend it. :)

You know, I've had it for a while now, just haven't gotten around to listening to it. I loved A Rainbow In Curved Air so much I just stuck around with that song, but I will make sure to listen to it this week, and let you know what I think. Thanks for the recommendation! =D
