- 10. Twice As Much
- Album: Nut Roast
- Artist: Bullitnuts
- Genre: Breaks/Downtempo
- Year: Aug 1997
- Why?: The bass is very catchy, and I really just enjoy the basic play of it all. The 'laughing' throughout the song is placed well and the song overall just feels very well thought through and...played through. The entire album is like this though, and for anyone who likes either of the above genres, this is a must check out.
- 9. Black
- Album: Musicforthemorningafter
- Artist: Pete Yorn
- Genre: Alternative/Pop
- Year: 2001
- Torrent: here
- Why?: I've been listening to this album for years, at least three. I've never been one for pop, and I enjoy some rock, but this album (not the artist, album) is different for some reason. I often just chuck out any pop or alternative rock I find because it's all the same. Why is this one different? It's not, well not really, but I'm enthralled by his voice, and it just catches me every time. It deserves the placement on this list.
- 8. Dub Crickets
- Album: Efflorescence
- Artist: Androcell
- Genre: Dub/Downtempo
- Year: Feb 2006
- Why?: I'm a sucker for deep bass, what can I say. This song just gets to me in a soul way... I don't know how else to put it. It gets me very relaxed, but it makes me want to just slide across the floor without moving. Very strange, I know, but it's the truth. My personal favorite on the whole album, but I'm sure that will differ with everyone. Worth checking out.
- 7. The Only Moment We Were Alone
- Album: Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
- Artist: Explosions In The Sky
- Genre: Post rock
- Year: 2003
- Torrent: here
- Why?: The entire album moved me. It was extraordinarily difficult to pick my favorite out of the 5 songs, with the shortest song being 8:18. I remember finding this album on iTunes (it's good for something, finally), and DL it (NOT on iTunes) and I didn't stop listening to it for days. It's so superbly done, with so much passion emanating from each individual song that it made me feel like something I did not know even existed inside of me was screaming to come flying out. The song/album didn't make me want to dance, didn't make me want to really move that much at all, but it made me want to climb Mt. Everest, it made me feel alive, it made me realize that death is the end of something beautiful and that life should be cherished while I last for such a finite amount of time. That's a good why. It is just gorgeous music, and I sometimes wish it never ended. A necessity for any post rock fan.
- 6. Hajinal
- Album: Rossz Csillag Alatt Született
- Artist: Venetian Snares
- Genre: Modern Classical/Breakcore
- Year: 14 Mar 2005
- Torrent: here
- Why?: The entire album is mind-blowing, at least to me. Classical is one of my favorite genres (I know next to nothing about it, which is why I don't talk about it much), and I love electronic music more than any other genre out there. Prefect match, and it couldn't have been done any better than this album right here in my opinion. Marvelously put together, this album truly is. This song is my favorite because... it's long and very invigorating, but then it soothes you -- not.
- 5. One More Night (Your Ex-Lover Remains Dead)
- Album: Set Yourself On Fire
- Artist: Stars
- Genre: Leftfield/Folk Rock/Downtempo/Indie Rock
- Year: 2004
- Torrent: here
- Why?: The music is well constructed, not difficult, not boringly simple, just well put together. The song tells an interesting story, and the album as a whole is pretty good. I don't really know why I'm putting it so high on this list, but my subconscious seems to be telling me to, and I listen very intently to my subconscious mind. The album is good, nonetheless, and it definitely merits the fanbase it received.
- 4. Rain
- Album: Wonderland
- Artist: California Sunshine
- Genre: Goa Trance
- Year: Dec 2000
- Why?: I currently only own disc 2 of the (oh no, math) 2 disc set, but it's enough to get me start dancing around the room like a complete and utter fool...to a deaf person. If you like any kind of trance, you will love this band/album/song. It's totally morning Goa (and I did not rip that off of you Karan, I actually learned about it through the 'first rave' video you have on your list...so I suppose I kind of did in the long run), and it's methodically put together, just like all other trance. I really don't know how to put it, it's just soothing, mind-boggling, and danceable at the same time...just like most other trance. Ugh! Just get it, it's worth the money or illegal DL time.
- 3. I Feel It All
- Album: The Reminder
- Artist: Feist
- Genre: Soft rock/Indie rock/Pop rock
- Year: 2007
- Torrent: here, and with extras too!
- Why?: I listen to this album all the time, just about every morning, well, at least this song. It's a very good waking up song for me, I don't know why, but if you listen to it I am positive you will understand where I am coming from. It deserves the spot on this list.
- 2. The Mysterious Fish Named Kun
- Album: Three Organic Experiences
- Artist: Aglaia
- Genre: Ambient
- Year: 2003
- Why?: Anyone who has done any electronic/ambient searches on this site has seen this album pop up every single time. I've been listening to this album about every night before I fall asleep, and it makes me pass out like a baby. I never get passed the first song, but I wake up to it every 10 minutes, and it is just like this lullaby telling me to forget about everything, and just feel entranced by the melodic tones and noises created. It's a masterpiece and I'm disappointed that I forgot to put it in my top favorites. It's become such an obvious part of my library that I almost forget to mention it to anyone. A masterpiece.
- 1. Take Me Into Your Skin
- Album: The Last Resort
- Artist: Trentemøller (Anders Trentemøller, it's his last name)
- Genre: Abstract/Experimental/Dub/Minimal
- Year: 2006
- Torrent: CD1, limited edition CD2
- Why?: If anyone ever asked me what my favorite song/artist that ever existed throughout my short lived experience I instantly will answer with this song/artist. This is "our song"(relationship wise obviously). I have dozens of awe-inspiring memories attached to this. This song has made me cry, laugh, smile, frown, feel exhilarated, want to die, and oh so much more. The emotion gushes out of this song. It makes me imagine two soul mates running through the forest (forest = life) lost and confused, but heading straight into each other, and finally at the pinnacle of the song they smash into each other, forming one person, one living essence. They now share the very existence with one another, physically and mentally. I love this song as much as life, because this song represents life to me. I have never been disappointed by Trentemøller in my life, all of his remixes are superb and pass my standards, and I don't give a fuck if there is some "better" DJ for anything out there, because what this man does makes my very existence make sense. This is not a song, this is art in it's purest form; to me. Recommended to all. It's perfect.
Author Comments:
If you noticed, I did not "score" them, because I feel it is irrelevant to do so. My opinion always changes on the scoring later, sometimes better, sometimes worse, and I don't want to regret it. These are my favorite songs/albums for the past couple months, and I believe I left out about 20 gigs of music that I have Dl between then and now (at least). Even number 10 is a phenomenal CD to me. I would really appreciate opinions on what I have said, and if you know of any other artists/songs/genres that I may enjoy, please, I would love to know. I listen to everything you send, and I take it all very seriously (if you are being serious, of course).

Hey,
Since you like Explosions in the Sky so much, you should really listen to some Godspeed You! Black Emperor. They are properly the greatest of the Post-Rock bands and made one of the finest albums of all time IMHO (Lift Your Skinny Fists). Not quite the best Post-Rock album (That goes to Spiderland) but it is amazing. Imagine Explosions in the Sky but lengthed to 20 minutes a track which mixes in Vocal Samples, Hendrix-ian feedback, Sigur Ris style crescendos, violen concertos etc. You should really check it out.
Peace and Happiness,
James
I'm trying to DL Lift Your Skinny Fists but the people keep going off line (SoulseeX, like Soulseek just for MAC), so it's getting very annoying. But I checked out Slint: Spiderland and H-O-L-Y F-U-C-K-I-N-G S-H-I-T! I randomly checked out Washer and it is an instant classic for me. If mp3s could get worn out, this album is going to be very worn out very quickly. Amazing album, thanks for forwarding it to me. I've already sent it to several people, and it's quickly growing in popularity amongst my friends. I'll let you know what I think about LYSF. Thanks again!
Excellent, I know very few of the items on this list :D

Haha I hope you enjoy them, let me know what you think :)! I'm so happy I made these lists, because I forget about the music I listened to in "the past". And from all of the music I have accumulated over the past year or so the next list I make will probably have to be top 20 of my favorites for the year...where to begin :P.
