Years correspond to the years the cartoons were first released, and not necessarily the years the cartoons were actually made in.
A brief history:
Tom and Jerry were created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, who made 114 shorts for MGM between 1939 and 1957, before MGM closed their animation unit down. Hanna and Barbera subsequently formed their own studio, creating such legendary shows as The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Top Cat, Scooby Doo and Yogi Bear, to name just a few.
Hanna and Barbera's Tom and Jerry cartoons are considered the definitive ones, winning seven Academy Awards (in 1943, 1944, 1945, 1946, 1948, 1951 and 1952) and garnering a further six nominations (1940, 1941, 1947, 1949, 1950 and 1954).

In 1960, MGM decided Tom and Jerry were worth a revival and hired Gene Deitch and his team of Czechoslovakian animators to create thirteen shorts. These are generally considered the "least good" of the Tom and Jerry cartoons made. The contract was not renewed after these thirteen, and in 1963, Chuck Jones, the veteran animator and director, who worked with Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and the Roadrunner, was fired from Warner Bros and hired by MGM to create 34 new Tom and Jerrys. Favouring style and poses over plots, the characters were redesigned, but didn't quite capture the magic of Hanna and Barbera's classic characters. 1967 saw the final Tom and Jerry cartoon.
Additional Notes:
The Egg And Jerry (1956) is a Cinemascope remake of Hatch Up Your Troubles (1948).
Tops With Pops (1957) is a Cinemascope remake of Love That Pup (1949), and Feedin' The Kiddie (also 1957) is a Cinemascope remake of The Little Orphan (1948, aired 1949).
Technically, this should come under "movies," since the cartoons originally aired as theatrical shorts in the cinemas in the 1940s and 1950s. However, as we've all seen them on television....
Note: Martin's personal favourite cartoon is The Cat Concerto. For the uninitiated, this is the one with Tom at a grand piano, playing Hungarian Rhapsody #2.

I watched these every afternoon after school for awhile. My favorite was "Pecos Pest" because it reminded me of an I Love Lucy episode, with the weird relative from down south coming to visit.
That was Tennessee Ernie Ford as the country cousin on I Love Lucy. Andy Griffith played the same kind of role on Danny Thomas' Make Room For Daddy. ~ slow day ~ Here kkkitty, kkkkitty, kkkkitty! ~;^)
Personally, the only ones I ever really liked were the Chuck Jones cartoons - loved the animation on those! Same as the original Grinch animation - something about the eyes and eyelashes I always liked, and the characters' expressions. : )
