Things I fear

Tags:
  • THE HOMELAND SECURITY ACT (apparently, they now want to keep a data-base with consumer, on-line and government information on every person in the United States. Scared yet? I sure am.)
  • THE USA PATRIOT ACT (A little thing that lets people search your house while you're not home and present the warrant later. Oh yeah and allows you to be held without charges indefinitely. Whoopee! For the USA and all its great Freedom! Those evildoers sure are jealous now!)
  • Driving in Seattle (pathetic, but I admit it)
  • losing my Dad before ever having a decent conversation with him
  • not being able to pay for school
  • consequently being stuck doing shit jobs for the rest of my life
  • nationalism
  • overzealous, symbolic patriotism (soon to-be nationalism)
  • a fascist state (the U.S. is showing definite signs in that direction.)
  • serial killers
  • sharks (but I love them too)
  • being unpopular (cause I once was)

I think if I define my fears it will make it easier to overcome them or work to stop them (whichever seems the best response.)I.E. I'm not going to work to stop sharks the way I'd work to stop nationalism.

Maybe if some other poor soul stumbles on this list, they will be comforted, knowing that other people are afraid too.

And ultimately, I agree with Franklin Delano Roosevelt, when he says "The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself." I don't think this means you should bottle your fears, however, you have to face them. You only have to watch "The Sound of Music" to get that point!
