Hey !   I loved Notting Hill and Four Weddings ...
oh, well its not really the film i hate..it Hugh Grant!! lol he just annoys me, sorry ;]
How To Make An American Quilt
Proof Of Life
to name a few
T'ho
:?)
Some of my choices would be:
Batman and Robin
Clifford
Nothing But Trouble
Runaway Bride
Vegas Vacation
oh man, nice i have to add batman and robin!
I once was forced to watch "The Princess Diarys" 8 times in a row. Top that.
dang! thats harsh..
Yeah, so that's why ever since I have been into really weird and twisted stuff.
:[] lol
The twisted one is the one that forced you.
what?? :)
Spiceworld. God, I'd rather have my eyes gauged out with a pointy stick and be impaled with a blunt knife than watch that drivel again. Maybe. :)
lololol that was a bad movie, its in!
Good! :)
I Agreee!
Cabin Fever and Monkeybone would be top of my list.
is monkeybone the one with Brenden Frasier?
yeah
The Hulk and You Got Served were soooo painful.
Hey ho, Rushmore, thanks for the endorsement, man!
np, wellcome to listology
Dumb and Dumberer (aka Dumb and Dumber 2)
Really? dang i liked that one myself but ok it's in!
personally i was hoping titanic and the hugh grant movies would be playing in heaven, then i would never have to see them again.
I got to say that I thought Notting Hill was great. Julia Roberts continues to surprise me and was wonderful here. Hugh Grant, who I've seen very little of, also did a fine job.
Titanic... another fine movie.
Batman & Robin... both Clooney and the film itself weren't bad.
no offense of course but you've got to be a woman. titanic and notting hill? fine movies?
No Grandpa, I'm 100% male. As for my liking these movies, I wasn't aware liking romantic comedies like Notting Hill or let's say a Woody Allen flick like Annie Hall had anything to do with male or female. If a movie is well made, I give it credit where credit is due.
By the way, don't you have some musicals on your list of movies to see?
i do in fact, i didn't mean any offense, i've just never met a man who would defend both notting hill and titanic, but i do take offense to comparing a woody allen flick to a hugh grant crapfest... yeah so their both romantic comedies, thats where the comparison ends, i also saidnothing about musicals, although i don't like manyof them i would liketo see more.
oh btw, i should clarify... i wasn't calling you a woman for liking those movies... i had no idea you what sex you were... it was more of a question, i have no problem with a man liking htose movies, it just seemed out of the ordinary to me.
Okay Grandpa. To shed some light on things, I checked out the IMDb user rating on the movies to see the difference in how guys and gals rated them. For your education... Annie Hall overall 8.3, males 8.3, females 7.7... Notting Hill overall 7.0, males 7.0, females 7.2... Titanic overall 6.9, males 6.8, females 7.3. It seems the older a guy, 45+ age group, the higher the male rating for both Notting Hill (7.3) and Titanic (7.4) while the male rating for Annie Hall drops to 8.0.
Who knows... in 40-50 years when you're doing your masterpieces of cinema list, you'll have Notting Hill in your top 10. Ha, ha, a frightening thought for you isn't it?
Men liked Annie Hall more than the other two movies but so do women so I guess you can say that makes Annie Hall more of a man's movie than the others, but also more of a woman's movie than the others. I'm inclined to agree it's the best of the bunch. You may have noticed both Allen's and Keaton's performances on my Essential Performances list.
My original post stated "Julia Roberts continues to surprise me". A more perceptive reader would have understood that to mean that my expectations for the movie were not very high. But I kept an open mind and damn if I wasn't impressed with her and the film.
I think as you grow older, you'll find that your own personal life is more like a romantic comedy than a Sam Peckinpah movie and so at that time you might be able to relate to something like Notting Hill a little better. Maybe.
No guy you know likes both Notting Hill and Titanic? Well, unless you're doing on-the-street interviews, that's not saying too much. Your friends are probably your friends because they see things the same as you.
Hugh Grant? This was the first film I saw with him and looking over his filmography it turns out it's the only one. I've seen previews and reviews of others but that's about it. I can't judge a career on one movie, but in this film he was right on the money.
The End.
fair enough... and you're probably right... although i must say that I hope to go down in blazes in a peckinpah-esque way before I hit the old age that brings along a new found respect for Notting Hill and Titanic... haha... actually you may really have something there, as I most likely enjoy movies more as an escape from my romantic comedy type reality than a hope for a life story that would fit into a peckinpah movie, hence my preference.
