Their Best Seasons

- 24 - Season 2 (Best storyline, best twists, and with my favorite characters still on the show.)
- Alias - Season 2 (The show was on its feet enough to establish great story arcs, but didn't have the ridiculousness of (1) Lauren Reed or (2) Sloane being a good guy. Also, the best episode of the series (Phase One) is in this season, and the finale may be the second best episode.)
- Arrested Development - Season 2 (I found it near impossible to choose between seasons 2 and 3, and I eventually broke the tie for 2 for three reasons: (1) More episodes; (2) more Blue Man Group; (3) more Barry Zuckerkorn. In case you were wondering, he arguments for season 3 were: (1) Charlize Theron; and (2) the worst episode of the series was in season 2, though of course it still wasn't that bad.)
- Curb Your Enthusiasm - Season 4 (The best story arc by far, and probably the funniest overall in terms of pure humor as well.)
- Family Guy - Season 3 (In season 1, they were still hitting their stride, and it's been really crappy since it was renewed. I picked season 3 over season 2 because I think they took more chances in season 3, resulting in a more outlandish, and often more hilarious, show.)
- Friends - Season 5 (Weird that my feelings gravitated towards a relatively late season, but let's face it: the humor in this show is always fairly inconsistent. And unlike the Ross/Rachel constantly on-and-off storyline, I absolutely love how Chandler and Monica's relationship develops, especially when it's still a secret, which it is for 2/3 of this season, so there ya go. Also may be the season with the most memorable episodes.)
- NewsRadio - Season 2 (Very consistent high quality of writing, jokes, and characters. Other seasons are still great but can't quite pull of this consistency.)
- Scrubs - Season 3 (When the show was funniest - earlier seasons didn't have enough jokes, and later seasons contained too many silly jokes that misfire. Also had the best character moments.)
- Seinfeld - Season 4 (I think seasons 4 and 5 were when this show was at its peak, but I broke the tie for season 4 because of the hilariously awesome story arc of Jerry and George putting together the pilot, which is so iconic and quintessential Seinfeld.)
- The Simpsons - Season 4 (The best balance between the earlier episodes where the stories and emotions were more solid and the funnier episodes which were later. Plus, no weak episodes. Even the clip show is okay.)
- Veronica Mars - Season 2 (Most engaging overall arc, best plotlines, most interesting twists, and best writing in general.)

These are the easiest ones for me to pick. But more to come soon, I think.

Interesting. I'd probably agree on 24 and VM.. for Scrubs, though, I'd go with S2, and for The Simpsons, S6.
I almost picked season 6 for The Simpsons. It's probably funnier in general, but I think in terms of the actual strength of the episodes, Season 6 is just more uneven. Not nearly as uneven as later seasons, of course, since Season 6 is easily a close second for me.
You should totally clone this list, by the way - I'd love to see your choices. I hope to work on mine more when I have more time.
a great list with many i agree with. Friends Season 5 is very underrated, i wish the chandler/monica thing being a secret had lasted longer, and once it was out, if just kind of happened and wasn't really talked about or anything, as soon as ross said "my best friend and my sister" everyone was ok about it.
S3 of scrubs was outstanding so totally agree there
great list AJ
