Ten people from throughout history, whom I'd like to dine with

Tags:
  • 1) Jesus (hey, he could always turn water into wine. heh heh)
  • 2) Leonardo da Vinci (a man of many talents, a great artist, he could paint us all. Also, a famous vegetarian.)
  • 3) Anais Nin (I am her reincarnation. At least I hope so. So I'm sure we'd have a lot to talk about.)
  • 4) Thomas Jefferson (a great man, an interesting man. Hopefully he would be nothing like Nick Nolte.)
  • 5) Jane Austen (Ah to feast on her wit, and hear about her life firsthand.)
  • 6) Mahatma Gandhi (not only was he an inspiring, enlightened leader, he's a vegetarian, like me!)
  • 7)David Hume (my favourite philosopher and a famous atheist to his death bed.)
  • 8)Georges Sand (a liberated, fascinating woman)
  • 9)Freddie Mercury (a beautiful, talented, wonderful soul)
  • 10)Artemisia (brave female artist, and incredibly talented.)

I've revised my list, partly because Gandhi is my new absolute hero, and partly to include Gandhi and Da Vinci for their vegetarianism. I have just made the switch and am inspired by Da Vinci's very early adaptation of that lifestyle.

Jen, good to see some philosophers here. I'm not so sure the two old Greeks would consent to dine with you, you being a mere female, although, in The Repulblic, Plato did show an attitude to women that was relatively enlightened. But Hume, yes indeed, what a meal that would be, and perhaps a game of billiards afterward, over which you could discuss causation and induction.

The more important question would be, "Would they like pizza?" ; )
