Strange Covers

Tags:
  1. Cardigans - Iron Man (Black Sabbath) Uh. No comment.
  2. Gipsy Kings - Hotel California (The Eagles) "Eight-year-olds dude."
  3. Gourds - Gin and Juice (Snoop Dogg) Bizarre and fun!
  4. Ahmet & Dweezil Zappa - Hit Me Baby One More Time (Britney Spears) I like the Fountains of Wayne cover better, but this is stranger
  5. Johnny Cash - One (U2) There are many fun Johnny Cash covers, but this is the best.
  6. Unknown Punk Cover Band - My Heart Will Go On (Celine Dion/James Horner) Bwahahahahaha!!! This RAWKS!
  7. Great Big Sea - End of the World (R.E.M.) GBS makes the song very happy and is actually faster than R.E.M.
  8. Randy Travis - Nowhere Man (The Beatles) Just strange to hear it with a twang.
  9. Gold Finger - 99 Red Balloons (Nena) This rocks, it even has the second chorus auf Deutsche!
  10. Social Distortion - Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash) I guess Mr. Cash decided to do covers as a payback. Pretty good, though.
  11. Cake - I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor) The video is great as well.
  12. Billy Corgan - Landslide (Fleetwood Mac) Another in the category of strange, but good.

Idea happily stolen from listology member Smaug, who hasn't compiled his own list here as of yet. For shame!

Will add more songs later. Please suggest more.

I'm not going to list Apocalpytica, as all they do are Metallica covers. But they are hyperdimensionally cool and you should check them out (esp. 'Fade to Black' and 'One'.

Yay social D,I love this band.

I don't know them very well...can you give me your top five songs by them?

Will do. Great idea for a list!

You might have to dig into your parents records for this one, but Devo covering "Satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones was really strange.

My parents? Hey, I may only be 25, but I was certaily a child of the 80s. I'll have to look for that one, I'm familiar with Devo's cover of Head Like a Hole, which is another of the strange ones. Thanks for the suggestion!

My Heart Will Go On was the VANDALS!!!!> Its from a really weird movie directed by guitarist Joe Escalante called That Darn Punk. Great song. ALso on that list is Pennywise doing Touch of Gray, it's live but still awesome and weird as hell.

Awesome, thanks for the info.

Is there a site that lists all of the artists for those random "Punk cover" mp3s?
