just what it says: soundtracks i own. this means i'm a big fan of the music in these movies. or shows: there're a few broadway shows up here. i'm a showtune kinda gal, and though my cd collection doesn't *really* show that yet, i'm working on it. :) suggest a soundtrack to me and i'll be your best friend: if i've seen the movie, i'll tell you why i don't have it, and if i haven't seen it, it'll give me more movies to see. :)

how's the sweet hereafter soundtrack? i remember liking the music, but it doesn't stick out in my mind like some soundtracks do. i also hove bad luck with soundtracks, so if you think the whole cd is worth while, i'll check it out. thanks!
um......well, it's not one of my favorites on the list. this, though, is mainly because it's mostly the score from the film. the pieces with vocal are *definitely* worth it, but i probably wouldn't pay full price for it if i had the option again. (it's worth it if you see it in a used cd store or on sale, though.) :)
You've got some great albums from movies I love, and more that I'll have to check out!
How about Boogie Nights (Vols. one & two)? Great disco music. In another genre, When Harry Met Sally--Harry Connick Jr. Yet another, The Commitments (V.1 & 2) And how about Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs? Even if you don't like Tarantino's films, I think he has excellent taste in music.
A couple more and I'll quit...if you like The Beatles/John Lennon, check out the Imagine soundtrack.
Also Singles has some good tunes. Let me know what you think!
thanks for the suggestions! would you believe that the only of those movies that i've seen is boogie nights? and that was so long ago that i can't even remember it. sigh. i'm so far behind.
i love cameron crowe, and keep meaning to check out singles, but i'm kinda intimidated by everything he's said about its narrative structure. the music is right up my alley, though. we'll see. :)
hey, i'm so glad you checked out the virgin suicides soundtrack....isn't it great? when i first bought it, it was the only thing i listened to for days. it's one of those nice soundtracks that you don't have to skip around for the good songs...cause they're all good and fit together so wonderfully.
having just seen two of the movies in the past week that happen to be on your list, I had to run out and "The Virgin Suicides" and "But I'm a Cheerleader" soundtracks. The Virgin Suicides has a great vibe to it (all about the decade I was born in but don't remember), and I like "But I'm..." because of its nice work by lesser known female bands (ie That Dog, whose other cds I have). By far my favorite song on it has to be "Glass Vase Cello Case"...very moody and sad. Anyway, just thought I'd share...
thanks for sharing, ender....did you actually *find* the but i'm a cheerleader soundtrack in a store or commercially? because i couldn't find it anywhere, i had to put it together myself. just curious. :)
d'oh! you caught me. I *did* run out to get But I'm a Cheerleader's soundtrack, but no dice. I *did* manage to score The Virgin Suicides soundtrack, but I used *gasp!* napster to collect ...Cheerleader. Which suggests to me that the soundtrack does exsist, but searching amazon.com, etc, I can't find it.
Also, I was saddened to find that That Dog had broken up. Really too bad. I like their sound and their song most of all.
hey there, I had a quick question about one of the songs from that movie. One song just really got to me, and I have no idea who sings it or what the name of it is. It has a lyric that goes something like "breathe into my hands a cup like a glass to drink from..."
please email the answer to me at bluz_goddess@yahoo.com thanks!!!
that's "glass vase cello case" by tattle tale, unless i'm mistaken ...
I highly recommend the soundtrack to Some Kind of Wonderful. You probably haven't heard of any of the bands, but all the songs are great.
Oh, for Broadway, I would also recommend Crazy for You (Gershwin) - you'll probably recognize about half of them, even if you've never seen the show (e.g., "nice work if you can get it . . .").
And the Henry V score is awesome, if you like classical at all. There is also some vocal music, but in the classical style.
